Tá an Wexford Echo ag iarraidh go mbeadh alt seachainiúil Ghaeilge nó faoin gcultúr Gaelach sa pháipéar. Táimid ag cur liosta le chéile de dhaoine a bheadh sásta alt bheag a scríobh go rialta don pháipéar. Má tá spéis agat ann déan teagmháil linn ag oifig@lochgarman.ie The Wexford Echo is hoping to have a weekly Irish Language article or cultural article. We are putting together a list of people who would be happy to write a short article on a regular basis for the paper. If you are interested please contact us on oifig@lochgarman.i

An bhfuil sibh réidh don Chéilí? Start the new year with a spring in your step! The 2nd Wexford Comhaltas Winter Céilí takes place at The Talbot Hotel on Sunday, Jan 15, 2017 (2-5pm). What to expect? An afternoon of dancing under the watchful eye of 'caller' John O'Byrne with music provided by the Wexford Comhaltas house band. This is a genuine all-ages event, one which the whole family will enjoy. The good news is that you don't need to be an expert dancer as John will be barking out the steps throughout (besides which there will always be someone to drag you along)! And when you have had your fill of scaling The Walls of Limerick and leaping through The Waves of Tory you can sit back and enjoy the playing of some of our best young traditional musicians. Mineral bar only. And everyone is welcome. Fáilte roimh shíntiúis dheonacha (b'fhéidir €2 p.p. nó €6 family). And remember … “Nuair a stadann an ceol, stadann an rince!" Agus..... In Concert: Kris Drever, Julie Fowlis, Aoife Ní Bhriain & Pádraig Rynne What a great gig to start the new year. When it comes to moulding traditional sounds into contemporary songs, few match the inventiveness and heart-rending emotion of Orkney-born singer Kris Drever. Freewheeling guitarist with award-winning avant-folk trio Lau, Drever has been described by Q magazine as ‘the standard bearer’ of the folk music revival. Drever’s no-holds barred approach is shared by Julie Fowlis, a silver-toned singer whose voice – ‘pure and elemental as a Hebridean seashore’ – has seen her become one of Gaelic music’s most celebrated global ambassadors. Completing this outstanding line-up are multi-award winning fiddler Aoife Ní Bhriain, renowned for her technical virtuosity across both traditional and classical music genres and concertina player Padraig Rynne whose ensembles Guidewires, Dán and Triad have re-defined the boundaries of the traditional music world. Date: Sun, Jan 15, 2017. Venue: National Opera House (Jerome Hynes Theatre), Wexford. Tickets €16/14. Comhaltas members/friends pay the lower price. Mention COMHALTAS if booking at box office. If booking online just click box for lower price! Tel 053 9122144. http://www.nationaloperahouse.ie www.wexfordcomhaltas.ie
