Our season opens September 9th with Opera Collective Ireland's production of Owen Wingrave. Introducing Limerick soprano Roisín Walsh who performs at the #LimeTreeTheatre for the first time. Roisin began her singing studies here in Limerick with Olive Cowper before going on to study at the Guildhall School of Music in London. A recent recipient of the Bernadette Greevy Bursary, engagements have taken her to Glyndebourne Festival and Scottish Opera. Owen’s formidable aunt Miss Wingrave is no stranger to Roisín as she has already won accolades for her appearances in the role in London and Canada. “Magnificent” was the verdict! I had the great pleasure of sitting in on the Limerick Youth Theatre dress rehearsal this afternoon - CALL BACK which opens this evening. To make it to 20 years is a milestone for any organisation and to have past members back to work with current members, who clearly still love what that organisation stands for, is really remarkable. This show is full of that love, jumps out at you. As an audience member I was caught up in the joy and emotion of it all. What a fantastic show.
