Description
Our 'Gentian Cafe and Wine Bar @ St Georges' is a brasserie with a twist: serving dishes to share with robust, sunny flavours, typically from a contemporary Irish, European palette with good old comfort food thrown in, The Gentian's ethos is one of quality, seasonality, freshness and abundance with comfort and friendliness thrown in. Our coffee already has a reputation......
We will be looking after you all day, with substantial breakfast and daily menus.
The setting is informal with local stone and splashes of colour; Burren and south Galway, blended with funky london, has a relaxed cosy, curl up feel, with windows looking out over the Kinvara bay - colour and comfort, space for reading chatting, meeting up or getting way from it all.
The internal terrace is colourful, welcoming and invites you to sit, chat read and take the sun while appreciating an urban setting in a wonderful village in the west of ireland, an aspect often unseen.

facebook.comNow then Gentianites, as you can imagine there will be a lot happening over the next few days (not to mention the ‘beastie from the eastie’) so to this end, The Gentian will be closed until Sunday 4th at 12.00 noon. The doors will be opening under Roz’s stewardship and onwards and upwards. In the meantime we’re figuring out how to hand over ‘your gentian’ Facebook page to Roz’s venture and she’ll keep you updated on all happenings.
A final look on our final day as The Gentian Cafe and Wine Bar. All swept and salted and ready for business🤓💕🤓
Meaner says it all...
.....And then some. It is with both great delight, happiness and a touch of nostalgia that the mantle of the Gentian is passing on. From March 1st the Gentian Cafe will be under new ownership, that of Roz Kachchhi. Many of you will know Roz from her dedicated work with Forgotten Horses and will also have tasted her delicious fare at suppers in Siar and other local haunts. All of the Gentian team will be joining Roz to continue their great work and no doubt to be even more successful. On a personal note, our local customers are the backbone of the business and I want to thank you so much for your support, encouragement, laughter, hugs, good humor and most of all your friendship. I have no doubt that you will continue to support Roz and her team and I for one look forward to becoming a regular and tasting the surprises and deliciousness that Roz will bring. Looking forward to seeing you over the next few days as we wind down. With much love and appreciation. Caitriona & Dominic
