Skevanish Equestrian Centre
Description
Skevanish EC is a family run livery yard and riding school teaching Dressage, Show Jumping and Cross Country. Skevanish Equestrian Centre is an AIRE approved establishment. We are situated in our own 78 acre farmland near the village of Innishannon just 24 km west of Cork city.
This family run centre was established by Frank and Gillian O'Sullivan and has been operating since 1978. It has helped riders to competition success at both national and international level as well as helping many nervous riders to enjoy horse riding.
The Centre has both Indoor (20m x 40m) and Outdoor (25m x 60m) arenas and a full cross country course catering for all levels with ca. 50 fences including water jumps. During summer additional arenas are set up on grass for show jumping and dressage as required.
We provide tuition from beginners to competition level riders.. We specialise in Dressage and can offer horses up to Medium level for instruction. We also offer instruction to pupils preparing for British Horse Society, Riding Club and Pony Club Examinations. Adult class lesson are held on week day mornings and evenings. Children's classes are held on week day afternoons and Saturdays. Private lessons may be booked to suit individual requirements.
All our instructors are BHS qualified to a minimum of BHS AI, Int SM and Stage 4 riding standard or similar, also taking a keen interest in human, horse and teaching psychology, biomechanics and, of course, equine welfare.
We hold regular clinics with visiting classical dressage instructor Andy Fitzpatrick (BHSI, TTT-trust, co-author of Arthur Kottas-Heldenberg's book "Dressage Solutions - A Rider's Guide").
We provide full and grass livery and all of our horses benefit from our home grown haylage, schooling by experienced riders and regular visits from farriers and physiotherapists.
Skevanish Equestrian Centre is a popular venue for AIRC, Dressage Ireland and Eventing Ireland competitions.
We are home to South West Riding Club, which can also be found on facebook or at http://www.southwestrc.webnode.com/ .
