It is such a lovely afternoon so I cleared up the herb bed in the garden - and the three cornered leek that Mr T mistook for wild garlic had settled in nicely as well (we planted it last year and my hopes were small)... The smell is simply amazing

Made rye sourdough today - just to show you that not everything I do turns out perfect. Love the flavour of the bread but its way not what it is suppose to be.

A Saturday in Cork City

A Saturday in Cork City - as I do every Saturday, I came to town early to watch Cork waking up. Went to the Coal Quay Saturday Food Market where I bought wild garlic from Caroline's Stall (because I am too lazy to head out into the wild myself) and got some lovely lemon verbena from the stall next to her (bought most of my herbs at this stall but never actually asked the name). Then headed to North Main Street, where I got my Turkish sausages from the spice shop and popped into Bradley's Specialist Off-Licence & Foodstore for some craft beer (would be rude not to). Walking up North Main Street towards Washington Street, I found a little chocolate shop. Thinking only of Mr T, I went in and met Karen, one half of the duo that runs Danero Cork Chocolate. Got a nice box of chocolates for Mr T and tasted their amazing citrus strips dipped in chocolate. All that shopping got me hungry, so I was extremely happy to see that Feed your Senses - Alimenta tus Sentidos is open for lunch. Call me a glutton - I enjoyed beautiful sourdough bread with crushed tomatoes, gambas in olive oil, garlic and chili and delicious dates filled with almond and wrapped in bacon. To top it all of: I had the pleasure interviewing Bruno Bortolotti of What to eat? as well as Ruth Healy on her latest venture Cork Character Cafes and Shane O'Sullivan of The Metropole Hotel on Easter Lunch tips. I ended my day in Cork with some delicious pretzels in The River Lee paired with a nice chat with Pierce and Michelle. I call that a perfect Saturday xx https://youtu.be/zhfY5HTYGrU
