Lámh Beag Naíonra, Montessori & Childcare provides quality Early Years Education in a caring and secure environment located in Granard. Opening September
Lámh Beag is being set up with a vision to provide parents with the choice of quality childcare, and to help children in our care to become competent confident learners with a grá for the Irish language.
We offer sessional Montessori & Naionra early years classes along with afterschool/breakfast clubs and yoga classes. Days and hours can be tailored to suit parents needs.
We cater for children from 2.5 years - 12 years
Naíorna
Lámh Beag will be Longford's first Irish language pre-school. Along with the advantages of your child attending a quality pre-school, attending Lámh Beag has the added advantage of your child acquiring their second language through play.
Studies show that the best time to learn two languages is before the age of 7. The human brain is wired to learn language in early childhood. The earlier a child starts learning a second language, the greater their chances of achieving full fluency.
Montessori
Our Montessori curriculum will be a child-centred approach to learning. Montessori has its own equipment and structure. Montessori is broken up into various subjects-maths, language, sensorial, practical life, cultural and arts and crafts.
There is great emphasis on individual learning with children encouraged to work at their own pace and to gravitate towards particular work which interests them.
Breakfast Club/Afterschool
We will offer before and afterschool care for Primary School children. This programme includes homework time, meal time, play and relaxation time. Our activities will include baking, art, sport activities, and group projects.
Yoga
We will provide a weekly yoga class to both our pre-school and afterschool pupils. Yoga helps children improve their balance, flexibility, and muscles while improving their fine and gross motor skills. Yoga also helps children to focus, concentrate, and sleep better.

👨🍳 An Bhialann 👩🍳 Another fun week here at Lámh Beag. The children spoke a lot about visiting restaurants over their holidays, so we decided to recreate our own here at Lámh Beag. Role play is another great way where children learn through play. Role play helps children develop communication and language skills, it helps them to act out an make sense of real life experiences while also sparking their creativity and imaginations.
