Standards of play in the Society are very high at the moment. Worthy of note is Dean O’ Shea’s recent winning of the prestigious O’ Connor Cup at Rosse’s Point. His run of form was extended to Longford Golf Club where he added the Bar Cup to his growing collection. The sheet is virtually full for the away trip to Rosse’s Point which takes place on the week-end of October 11/12. Some pictures from our recent trip to Glasson Golf Club.

Greville Arms Golf Society: The Tom Walsh Memorial trophy played for last weekend was, as always, a most enjoyable event. The Greville versus the Hit & Miss, from the Colmcille/Dromard/Arva area, is the now well established arrangement for the event. Played in very windy conditions the Greville once again emerged victorious by a narrow 6 point margin; 345 pts to 339 pts. Only the best 10 cards from each team went forward for consideration. We thank our good friends from the Hit & Miss for their sportsmanship and friendship which makes the occasion a worthy and fitting tribute to the late Tom Walsh. This was the twelfth anniversary of his passing as was alluded to by Society Chairman, Ned Monaghan, in his presentation address. Results are as follows: Nearest Pin and Longest Drive (both societies) – Eugene Lynch. Greville winners: Third – Eugene Lynch (37pts); Second – Kevin Tighe (39pts), worthy of note, Kevin plays of 7; First – Martin Murray (39pts). Overall Winner (both societies) Sean Corr (40pts). This prize was presented by the Elizabeth Walsh. Congratulations and well done to Sean. The next Society event is also an inter-society competition and takes place on May 25 at Longford versus the Barney Mac Society from Ballinagh with a 9.30 Tee-off time.
