Billy and Percy the Dangan Garden centre Donkeys have gone on their holidays! Because there isn’t much grass to eat here in the paddock we have taken Billy and Percy out to Tallyho in Athenry where they can graze away to their hearts (and their stomachs!) content in some lush pasture land and let the grass here grow back to keep them going for the rest of the year. They love all your visits and the carrots and treats you bring them and they will be back after a month away on their holidays with their sheep friends in Tallyho (It really is called that!) Why not think about a visit to the Donkey Sanctuary in Mallow, Cork if you would like a lovely day out, its free to visit and you can make friends with some of Billy and Percy’s friends that they used to live with there. The Donkey Sanctuary has a great fb page and it is a great place to visit and meet all the Donkeys, they have foals as well at the moment. If you want to adopt a donkey who lives there and help with their care you can do that and they send a regular newsletter too. Our guinea pigs in the garden centre pets corner would love a visit from you and they eat carrots too! For now the grass will grow and the bees and insects will get the benefit of the grasses and wildflowers that will come up. The buttercups are doing well so donkeys obviously don’t like them, we have two beehives in our garden so the bees will be busy and we hope lots of growth happens with the sunshine and rain. Thanks for your donkey friendship, from Sally and the team at Dangan Garden Centre.

Our lovely black bantam hen hatched out two 🐥 chickies clever girl! Come and see! They are 2. weeks old now and stay up the back of the hen run with their Cockeral dad and just as well as a nasty mink/stoat/weasel came on Saturday night and there was a massacre, he dug in under the fence, it was so sad. So we are repairing and cleaning up the run and are hoping to get 8 ex-battery hens to give them a better life, from Littlehill Animal Rescue in Kildale... Watch this page ... And you have to zoom in to see the chicks!!

Thanks to John Spain for a great evening at Galway Garden and Flower club, my entry in the novice section is on display in the tearooms, if I had won one of his 6 creations it would be there too, better luck next time on 16th April when Richard Haslam is doing his last demonstration, before he hangs up his secateurs
Thanks so much to the city council guys who came so quickly and collected 4 mattresses dumped on the beautiful avenue, if you know the swines who dumped them please tell us...

The fairies are in the woods in Dangan! There are 16 fairy doors in the avenue now so more fairies have moved in, and lovely gifts have been left for them, from badges to beads and they are very happy, come and see if you can find the fairy doors, some of them are well hidden!
Thanks to Val Cunningham floor sanders, Milltown, for doing a great job on the wooden floor in the tearooms, it's like a new floor!
