By way of warning, take a look at Kinvara as it was tonight. Met Eireann say tomorrow (Wednesday) morning's high tide might even be higher due to additional storm surge. Don't become a statistic!
(Displayed Chart starts Midnight Tuesday 2nd Jan 2017) Stay safe! Wave heights in Galway Bay will be literally "off the chart" over the next couple of days. Waves can pluck you off the seashore with a vengeance. Take no chances! If you have photos or video from a safe location please share here. Thanks!

Probably 1996 or 1997 or so.....
Not much vegetation on The Flaggy Shore in these photos from around 1984. Note the flimsy roadway with grass growing in the centre. Apologies for the dust and marks on these scanned negatives.

The Flaggy Shore in 2017. The "Flags" are the flat slabs of rock you can see here, hence the name "The Flaggy Shore". Technically the Flags are seen on only a very short length of the coast here, perhaps just a few hundred metres. Otherwise it is sandy to the west, and with round rocks and pebbles to the east. Aughinish is visible in the distance
