Nestled in the recreational suburb of Dun Laoghaire in South County Dublin, the Royal St George Yacht Club is one of Ireland's leading Yacht Clubs.   The RSGYC was founded in 1838 by a small number of like minded individuals who liked to go rowing together. The Club gradually gathered pace and has become, with the passage of time and the unstinting efforts of its Flag Officers, committees and members, a world-class yacht club.

Today, the RSGYC has a Membership of 1,900 and a full range of sailing, social and race activities. The Club offers a full bar and catering service for Members, Visitors and Guests.

Sports Capital Grant: We are delighted to announce that the Royal St. George Yacht Club has been successful in our application for a Sports Capital Grant for the replacement of one of our flights of team racing Firefly dinghies. The grant of just over €31,000 will be used to replace our blue and red flight of 6 boats, which is now over 15 years old. These boats have served the club well over the years, but are nearing the end of their useful life – having been kept in service over the years under the tender care of John Sheehy, Tino Hyland, Ben Cooke and Chris Arrowsmith, to name but a few! The new boats will be put to good use over the coming years, given the enthusiasm for team racing, particularly amongst our youth and college sailors. Plans are already underway for 2018, with the Leinster Schools’ Team Racing in February, an event to mark the 70th anniversary of Team Racing in April (celebrating the origin of Team Racing which started in the RSGYC), the ever-growing youth Elmo Cup event in September and the Irish Team Racing Nationals in October. We will also have an ongoing programme of school, youth and college training, as well as Team Racing clinics as part of our Summer Junior Courses.

Asgard Reunion Voyage and Ball 2018 We are thrilled to announce our Spirit of Asgard Reunion Voyage to be held from 12 to 18 May 2018. The voyage will celebrate the spirit of the Asgard II Sail Training Tall Ship. Twenty eight former Asgardians will come together for a six-day voyage around the Irish sea on board the Tall Ship Pelican. In conjunction with the voyage, a gala ball will be held for former trainees, families, and friends on Saturday 19 May 2018. The Spirit of Asgard voyage and ball will take place ten years after the tragic sinking of the much-loved Tall Ship Asgard II. The event will bring the former Asgard II, Creidne and Asgard trainees together to relive their amazing experience by taking part in a tall ship voyage and to share their stories and experiences. This voyage will serve to highlight to young people today that the same opportunities are available today via Sail Training Ireland's annual programme of voyages. Anybody interested in taking part in the Spirit of Asgard Voyages or attending the gala ball should apply at www.sailtrainingireland.com , email info@sailtrainingireland.com or call 01 816 8866. For other voyage opportunities see the full voyage calendar on the site. No experience is necessary. #spiritofasgard
