When working with the wet-on-wet technique in Watercolour it is a good idea to stretch your paper before you start you painting. Stretching the paper is a simple trick to prevent warping or rippling of your page when wet. This is especially useful when painting the sky as a large area of the paper is wet at the one time. These lovely paintings of Hook Light House in Wexford are by the students in our Malahide class this week.
Proportions of the Face
Proportions of the face can be tricky. Make sure you put the eyes half way between the top of the head and the chin and you will achieve a more realistic result. http://www.sceitse.com/students-work/2017/1/14/proportions-of-the-face
Inspiration from Monet
This week we were inspired by the cold weather to look at Claude Monet's beautiful painting "The Magpie". To create the natural effect of white snow he actually uses a pallet of blues, greys and purples, particularly so in the shadows. You can see our students' paintings of snow here... http://www.sceitse.com/students-work/2017/1/15/inspiration-from-monet
