The (IDSSO) is a national body set up to help develop sporting ability in young people with Down Syndrome and afford opportunities for excellence in sport. The Irish Down Syndrome Sporting Organisation or IDSSO was formed in 2010 having been involved with the Down Syndrome International Swimming Organisation (DSISO) since its inception in 2001.

In 2002 we participated in the first  World Down Syndrome Swimming Championships in Reading, England which was attended by nine countries. Over the following years more countries joined and sent teams to European and World Championships.

In 2006 Ireland hosted the World Championships in Limerick in which twenty three   countries participated. The International Organisation is working towards having swimmers with Down Syndrome accepted in Paralympics as a separate category. They set qualifying times for their competitions and since it first started , the bar is being raised all the time as standards and competition are improving.

More information about the International Organisation, including their qualifying times for events, can be found on their website www.dsiso.org.

Niall Molloy who is a volunteer/swim coach with the IDSSO. Was having his 30th birthday party on New Year's Eve 2015. My Tedfest 30th/New years Eve party. Everyone at this party was all dressed up, to suit with the occasion. This event was located in The Church Cafe Bar, Restaurant and Club. There was some buckets at the bar for people to make donations to the IDSSO. At this event Naill raised 350 euro, for the Irish Down Syndrome Sporting Org.
