IDAC (Integrated Design and Analysis Consultants) was established to provide expert consultancy, software integration and implementation services to the application of engineering simulation software.  Established in 1997, IDAC Ireland Ltd is a small, indigenous Irish company which specialises in engineering simulation solutions. The core of our business is simulation. Our two directors, Mr Sweeney & Dr Fanning have over 45 years FEA/CFD experience between them. This expertise is spread across a wide range of engineering sectors: medical devices, aerospace, automotive, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, power engineering, renewable energy engineering amongst others. We have expertise in linear and nonlinear, static and dynamic, implicit and explicit, stress analyses, steady state and transient heat transfer analysis, computational fluid dynamics analysis, fluid-structure analysis.

Derek Sweeney, a Mechanical Engineer, graduated in 1984 with a Bachelor of Engineering Degree from University College Dublin. He is a Chartered Engineer, a Member of the Institution of Engineers of Ireland, and is Managing Director of IDAC Ireland Ltd. Mr Sweeney founded IDAC Ireland Ltd on his return to Ireland having worked in the UK for GEC Large Steam Turbines and in the US for GE Aircraft Engines.

Dr Paul Fanning, a Civil Engineer, graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering Degree from University College Dublin in 1988 and was awarded his PhD from the University of Surrey in 1993. He is a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers of Ireland, and a Senior Lecturer in the School of Architecture Landscape & Civil Engineering at University College Dublin. He has published over 50 technical papers relating broadly to the use of advanced analysis methods in structural engineering with particular emphasis on assessment and condition monitoring. Dr Fanning joined IDAC Ireland Ltd in 1997 following three years as a Design/Principal Engineer in the Special Structures Division of LG Mouchel & Partners (a multi-disciplinary firm of civil engineering consultants) in the UK.


Bob Moore has a degree in Applied Mathematics and Physics from Trinity College Dublin. He has 12 years experience in software engineering, in fields such as artificial neural network research, image processing and cochlear implants. He was the Project Manager for the Brite/EURAM PRECIS4M Cold Forging research project. He developed a GUI for the EU funded BloodSim project and performed process integration and web delivery work in the GEMSS project. All projects involved integrating F.E. Solvers with bespoke software. His skills include C/C++, SQL, PHP, Java and shell scripting in both Unix and Windows environments.
