World Autism Awareness Day Sunday April 2nd 2017 This Sunday April 2nd is World Autism Awareness Day and Konfident Kidz are having a walk in red day to create awareness of autism and the positives of having autism. The event will commence at 1pm on the foot bridge in Bandon. Afterwards you are invited back to the town Hall for refreshments. There will be plenty of entertainment for children such as face painting, Olaf from Frozen will be there. There will be a clown, juggling and music. It is all FREE. Tickets will be sold on the day and all monies raised or donated will be going to the Rainbow club. There will be guest speakers including Brian Irwin from ‘As I am’, Sinead Moynihan from Special Yoga and Jerry Ryan SEN Co-ordinator from SPN will also be highlighting our ASD special Classes in Bandon. All is asked is that you wear something red. Jerry hopes you all can attend to celebrate this special day. If your child would like to sing, tell a joke, read a poem or dance on the day please let Jerry know asap.

Thanks to Stephen Dooley and Conor Ellis from Cork City FC who called to our class today. Also a big thanks to Ms. Lordan who facilitated the visit. The boys really enjoyed hearing from this inspirational pair.

Thanks to Super Valu, Laya Healthcare and Biabites for an informative healthy eating session for sixth class. The boys tried a variety of foods and enjoyed a talk on nutrition by Niamh Arthurs.

Our HSCL Máire organised a lovely sceál for the infants classes. She read Little Red Riding Hood as gaeilge. This was all for Seactain Na Gaeilge 🎶 ☘️ thank you Máire!

For Aistear this month the infants classes are learning all about gardening 🌺 They had Seán from Bandon Co-op come in to show us how to plant seeds and bulbs and then the children did it outside. We also went for a nature walk to the nuns garden and spotted some beautiful flowers and insects!

Maire organised some Irish bingo games as part of Irish week 'seachtain na gaeilge" for first class this week.Yousef and Dominik were the lucky winners and were delighted with their prizes 😀 Go raibh mile maith agat Maire 😄

We recently took part in a basketball blitz in The Parochial Hall in Cork City. All of our pupils from fifth and sixth class took part. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to Sally Ann for making out our teams and for taking the lads for training every Friday evening. Her hard work was very evident on the day of the blitz as many of our teams returned home undefeated.
