Donabate Kids
Description
Summer Camps - July & August
Montessori - mornings only, School term
After school Club - School Term My name is Vicki and I have been working in Donabate as a Montessori teacher and childminder for a number of years now. Working with children is my passion, I began my career working for my now Mother in law who instilled in me a love for the Montessori method. I progressed to setting up and running a voluntary Mother and toddler group in my home town of Killarney after my daughter was born.
We moved to Dublin in 2012 and I achieved my Montessori qualifications. Working as a Montessori Teacher is my dream job and I am so excited to be setting out on my own. In recent years there has been huge strides in the Irish child care sector with the government looking to bring us in line with European standards and as a result I have kept myself at the forefront by continuing my studies to degree level.
The Montessori method will be central to the Preschool curriculum but I will be incorporating the principles of Siolta and Aistear themes as they are closely interlinked. The Ethos is to provide an environment that stimulates curiosity and learning within the child, so each child develops at their own pace whilst nurturing a love for learning. I am very aware that preschool is for many children their first introduction to structured learning so it is vital that the child has positive experiences which will lead to a love of life-long learning. I am fully registered to offer ECCE places.
As a mother and a child care professional I am in a unique position, society today is fast paced and with the majority of households now requiring 2 working professionals I feel it is the responsibility of the childcare provider to work in close partnership with parents to provide affordable, flexible and child centered care for children of school going age. For this reason, the afterschool service will be set up as a club. The idea is to provide a relaxing environment that has a homely feel, the space will be designed to incorporate a balance of activities and down time depending on the needs of the child. The aim is to provide a fun child centered space that the children claim as their own and therefore love being there.
