Happy Midsummer's evening to you from Thali Nepal! In the Himalayas there are many beautiful and rare wildflowers, but one of the most admired is the Himalayan blue poppy. (And of course the rhododendron too, our national flower.) :)
Father's day in Nepal - We All Nepali
Happy Father's Day everyone - why not celebrate with a delicious lunch or dinner in Thali! In Nepal, Father's Day is celebrated on a different date, but it is a very important opportunity to honour our fathers and father-figures, and all that they do. In Nepal, we love bright colours, and in the markets you can find pigment traders selling all sorts of beautiful colour powders for use in ceremonies and other practices. One of our most important Nepalese festivals is Holi, the Festival of Colour and Love, which takes place in Feb/Mar each year.

Another little fact about Nepal - we have a national bird, the beautifully colourful Lophophorus, known as Daanfe in Nepal. It is also called Himalayan Monal. It is a rare and beautiful creature, found in altitudes between 2400 and 4500 meters.
