The rally in Dublin aims at mobilizing the people of Ireland to stand up in defence of the 8th amendment to the Irish constitution that guarantees equal protection for both mother and child. The 8th amendment has almost certainly saved Ireland from going down the partway of abortion on demand. Be part of it! The Rally for Life is always an amazing, colourful celebration of Life. Work on Church Roof - Proposed Schedule Presently, drawings and a 'Bill of Quantities' is being prepared by engineers appointed by the church. The work should go out to tender by early July. By mid-August a contractor should be nominated and work should commence in early September. This project will place a huge burden on practicing Catholics in Gurranabraher parish. All will be asked to contribute in any way they can to realise this project of handing on a fitting place of worship to another generation. Volunteers and suggestions are required on how we can work together to raise funds.
Corpus Christi Procession on June 18th 2017 The 92nd annual Corpus Christi Procession will take place on Sunday, 18th June 2017. On each Feast of Corpus Christi, Catholics around the world process out into the streets of cities and towns in a great public display of faith and devotion. We invite parishioners to join Gurranabraher parish in this year's procession as we set off from Ascension Church at 2.30pm - meeting up with the Cathedral parish as the Blessed Sacrament is carried from there to Daunt's Square. The procession leaves the Cathedral at 3pm and concludes with Benediction in Daunt's Square at approximately 4.30pm. This year the guest preacher is Rev Dr William Crean, Bishop of Cloyne.
Donations for roof repairs gratefully accepted at Parish Office or they can be lodged directly into: Ascension Church Building Fund A/c at AIB Bank IE65 AIBK 934194 32642064

ASH WEDNESDAY 1st March - Day of Fasting and Abstinence Blessing & distribution of Ashes after the 8am, 10am and 7pm Masses celebrated at Ascension parish. The wearing of ashes on the forehead on that day is a sign and an indication that the person wearing the Ashes wants to turn away from sin and live by the Gospel.
