If it is completely flexible at 60, you are young." /Joseph Pilates / Nobody is too old to exercise, you might just feel stiff and if you feel stiff you more than probably need to increase your flexibility. Pilates method is the great way to do it. Why? There is few rules to increase flexibility and you can do it through pilates workout. The rules to increase flexibility are: 1. DYNAMIC STRETCH. Each exercise in pilates workout contains the element of lengthening muscles through strengthening core muscle. 2. CONSTANT STRETCH DURING TRAINING. In pilates workout you start stretch in the first exercise and continue till last exercise of the sessions. 3. INCREASE RANGE OF MOVEMENT. Routine of pilates workout is designed to increase the flexibility through increasing the range of movement in each next exercise. So the more exercise you do during the workout the more you increase the flexibility. And this is what different pilates from the other strength workout. In pilates you build your strength increasing flexibility. 4. MASSAGE AND RELAX. Yes in pilates workout you perform automassage. There is a lot of rolling exercises massaging the body, which helps to break knots in muscles, helps to improve the blood circulation, which leads to flush away the waste products from exercises allowing to relax the body and recover quicker. 5. DEEP BREATHING. Pilates method is designed to improve breathing technique. Joseph Pilates - founder of this method - suffered from asthma as a child and teenager so his one of the goal was to get deep breathing. Today pilates workout is recommended as well for people who have difficulty in breathing. Well, is there better form, than Pilates, to improve your flexibility improving the strength.
