Michael Birrane to Irish Freemasons Brethren, nearly one month ago, my son Adam (8 years) had a terrible freak accident at home where he got a serious injury on his face, where very narrowing missing his right eye, he received a deep cut from just under his right eye all the way across to his right ear. He obviously was brought to A&E, where he was taken care off and bandaged up, the next day he was tested for nerve damage and thankfully there was none. The day after he went in for surgery where he was stitched up very neatly by the skillful surgery team. He will have a scar but he could have easily lost his eye, so take things into perspective we are thankful. The reason why i am posting this is to give thanks to a wonderful charity that many of the brethren here are involved and that is the TLC. You see my son Adam is autistic, for any adult or child A&E can be a very scary confusing place. For some of those with autism where your sensory projections like sights, sounds, smells, touch can be heightened, the stress and anxiety of a place like A&E can be almost unbearable. When Adam was at the A&E, one of the wonderful nurses could see that this was happening to him, and what did she bring over to him but you guessed it, one of the TLC teddies. To say that this helped him would be an understatement, and it certainly help relieved and help my son distress, and indeed my wife who was with him, as i had to mind my other 2 children at home. From my own lodge Bro Liam Cunningham who is so much involved with the TLC charity, to you and all the brethren who do so much good work for the TLC, as a brother to brother, on behalf of my wife and children, thank you so much, please keep up the good work and to all brethren here please support and continue to support this very worthy cause. A very grateful Brother.
Best wishes to our new neighbours Soma coffee company, who opened last Saturday and have been completing their fit out this week.
