Denmark: Learning with LEGO (Learning World S4E13, 1/3)

https://youtu.be/CW0MCSpOv8k A child Ive been working with for the past year is moving to Denmark and will be attending this Lego school. Great concept but will be interesting to hear how he gets on when he's been so use to the structured classroom over here. Learning through creativity, play and real world experience is a great way for children to grow and develop.

Many of the shop bought baby rusks are loaded with sugar and artificial ingredients. Try this healthier version. Make in batches and freeze. 1 c. rolled oats 1 c. oat flour (grind oats in blender till they’re a flour consistency) 1 c. organic apple sauce (be sure it’s thick or drain any liquid part) or 2 ripe banana's mashed. 2 TB coconut oil 1/2 tsp each of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and vanilla extract 1 tsp aluminum-free baking powder Mix dry ingredients. Add in melted oil. Form date-like shapes and put on greased baking sheet or parchment paper. Bake at 350F for 30-45 minutes, depending on your oven. Flip them halfway through so that you have a nice golden crisp on both sides of biscuit. Store in uncovered dish for at least 24 hours which will harden them further. You can also put in freezer and serve cold for extra teething relief! (A hard texture is good so that they don’t break apart while baby is gnawing.)

WORKSHOP AND CLASSES ON FEEDING YOUR KIDS AND READING FOOD LABELS. Nearly every processed food we give our children is loaded with sugar. Each serving of rice krispies or cornflakes has a teaspoon of added sugar and cheerios have two teaspoons of sugar. Child obesity is becoming a real problem in Ireland as children are eating more processed foods and are less active. However obesity isn't the only result of excess sugar in our children's diets. Sugar also prevents the absorption of Calcium, contributes to hyperactivity, poor concentration, poor attention, drowsiness and memory difficulties. As a parent, it can be hard to know what's best. BEANS regularly runs workshops and classes for parents, in order to education them on what to feed their kids and how to making healthier choices. If you would like BEANS to come talk at your school, organisation or sports group please contact Louise at info@beans.ie to get more information.

Chicken Veggie Patties - Easy Toddler Meals

Great idea for those chicken nugget lovers. Serve them up and say nothing. If they eat them great if not dont react and serve them again next week. You'd be surprised how many children will try them when they think you dont mind if they dont eat them. Sometimes its just a sense of control toddlers and children seek.
