European Art History - ACE UCC
Description
Learn about European art history at UCC in this innovative Adult Continuing Education programme with 1-year Certificate, 2-year Diploma, and Audit options. Now enrolling for September 2016, this course offers a survey of European art history from Ancient Greece and Rome to contemporary art practice. It is designed to introduce students new to art history to the significant work of artists, sculptors and architects in the disciplinary canon and examines their work within the broader social and cultural context of its production. We also explore how significant works have been cited throughout the history of European art and how this reflects the formation of European identity. During the course, students develop critical visual analysis skills through close reading of artworks in lectures, case studies and tutorials, associated literature, and field-trips.
