facebook.comIIoT - Ireland Internet of Things. A history of IoT and what it means for Ireland
"Insight into the underlying economics shows how IoT is no longer about imagining what incremental changes are possible ‘if’ we give a device intelligence and connectivity. Significant compute power and the possibility for network connectivity is now being baked-in to nearly every device. So IoT is increasingly about, given that most devices are intelligent and connected, how do we as a society use this? This next phase of IoT is almost more philosophical than technical. It is about how we can completely reimagine what the devices in all areas of our lives actually are, what they do, and what they mean to us?"

We have some exciting news to share! We've been sitting on this one for a while, as our very own CTO, Beth Flanagan, is serving on the Board of Directors for this project. As a company whose employees all work from home, we love work and communication platforms that help to keep teams in touch and keep our workflows in line with one another. And as a group of people who care deeply about open source, inclusivity, usability and creating tools that serve the public good? We're delighted to be connected with Corteza Project.

Togán Labs today announces the release of Oryx Linux v0.3.1! As described in our previous blog post, Oryx Linux is or container-based embedded Linux distribution based around core technologies from OpenEmbedded and Yocto Project. This release, like v0.3.1, is built using Yocto Project v2.4 "rocko". This is a minor update to Oryx Linux and incorporates the following new features: [ 127 more words ] https://toganlabs.wordpress.com/2018/01/31/togan-labs-releases-oryx-linux-v0-3-1/
The whole team from Togán Labs will be attending FOSDEM at ULB Solbosch Campus, Brussels, Belgium this February 3-4. FOSDEM is the largest gathering in Europe - and arguably the world - for open source software developers. We'd especially love to hear how people are using OpenEmbedded/Yocto Project and other embedded Linux tools and what their experience is, good or bad, with these projects.
