West Cork Arts and Wellness
Description
West Cork Arts & Wellness is a collaboration between Clonakilty Welllness Committee and the HSE, promoting arts and wellness in the community. West Cork Arts & Wellness Festival 2014
West Cork Arts & Wellness committee welcome you to an interactive week-long festival, celebrating life, the arts and wellness.
In order to create a healthy community, all of us need to learn how best to care for each other. Good mental health is an essential instrument for achieving this. The modern world can be a very stressful place to live and sometimes, we need to draw on our own resources more than usual. Therefore, good mental health is a crucial resource that we draw upon in our everyday lives. It helps us foster feelings of positivity within ourselves while also encouraging them in others.
West Cork Arts & Wellness Festival 2014 aims to encourage dialogue and openness about mental health. Our hope is to help reduce prejudice, dispel myths, and better equip communities and local organisations to interact with and support individuals experiencing mental health difficulties.
Creative expression, through the arts has been shown to be linked to positive wellbeing. In life we use creative solutions for everyday problems, at home, at work or at school. Through creative expression we are enabled to reflect and truly express our feelings, thoughts and life stories through beautiful and meaningful mediums.
Engagement in the arts can spark the imagination at the very heart of our ideas, goals and dreams. Creativity knows no bounds. It is limitless and freeing. This source of freedom has the potential to be utilised for our greater overall wellbeing. We hope you can join in our festival and support us in celebrating life, the arts and wellness. After all;
MENTAL HEALTH IS EVERYONE'S BUSINESS !
