facebook.comSince opening the studio in Coolbawn I have come to be amazed at (and love) the sheer variety that each day brings. I had just finished setting up for a family portrait later this evening when this fantastic character walked through the door! Clown Jeca was on his way back from entertaining the younger guests at a wedding in Coolbawn Quay (CBQ) Lakeshore Spa & Marina and popped in to say hello. How could you not smile!
Yesterday’s cycling trip along the Suir Blueway brought me back in time. While having lunch in the The Carraig Hotel I remembered last being there in 1994 on the occasion of a special cycle to celebrate Seán Kelly’s retirement from the sport. I discreetly grabbed this photo while having breakfast, featuring some of the greatest cyclists of all time; Bernard Hinault (2nd from left) and Laurent Fignon to his left. Regretfully however the Eddie Merckx, the greatest cyclist of all, is out of shot, seated behind Laurence Roche (on the right) but I didn’t want to interrupt! Had I the chance again....!
If you build it they will come…. I had the fabulous experience today of cycling Tipperary’s very own Blueway, from Clonmel to Carrick on Suir. Just recently completed, this 42 km round trip is on a purpose built shared walking and cycling path of the highest quality along the banks of the Suir. It was amazing to see the huge numbers of people taking advantage of these facilities, I lost count of the number of other cyclists I met along the way, from families with children on bikes with stabilizers to visitors from overseas on bikes hired in Carrick. All of which goes to prove, when facilties like this are provided they will be used….”If you build it, they will come”. Photo courtesy Tipperary Tourism
In all the excitement of the hurling in recent days here's something that may have gone under the radar...Our local button accordion maestro Keelan McGrath won his third All-Ireland U-18 title in a row at the Fleadh in Drogheda last week. What an amazing achievement, well done Keelan!
What a beautiful morning (and location) for the Lakeshore Community Market - from 10.00am to 1.00pm.
A studio shot from some time back to remind you the Lakeshore Market takes place in Kilbarron tomorrow from 10.00am to 1.00pm.
Aug 23rd 2009....that was a quick 10 years!
Grabbed this one from my seat in the Cusack Stand today, on this day of days! When saving photos on my laptop I always try and give them the most logical name I can think of to make it easy to search for in time to come. Doesn't - "Tipperary - All-Ireland Champions 2019" have a lovely ring to it?
Days like these.....There's something magical about the eve of an All-Ireland final, particularly when your county is involved. Fingers crossed that Kikenny struggle once again to hold on to this man tomorrow!
The blue and gold theme continues....
Just two days to go and the excitement is really building. Regardless of the outcome on Sunday great credit should go to this wonderful team of players and management for the great days so far this summer. The collective excitement and anticipation this week is a joy to behold and something we should never take for granted. I think we are really privileged to have occasions like this. For people that have taken classes with me over the last year in particular and who like the technical data on some of these photos: This was taken with a 400mm 2.8 lens, at an aperture of 2.8, the shutter speed was 1/2000s and the ISO set at 800. The result is an out of focus background with the action frozen.
Little preoccupied these days....can only see blue and gold!
