Cork Physical Therapy
Description
We offer you a natural and drug-free approach to overcoming Pain, Discomfort & Injuries. Using a very “hands-on” approach, we identify and treat not only the symptoms, but in many cases, the underlying factors that may be causing the problem. Manipulative Therapy:
At Cork Physical Therapy, we take great care in ensuring that spinal manipulative therapy are slow and gentle manipulation techniques to treat carefully diagnosed conditions. These movements can loosen and move the spinal bones and joint structures that may be causing low back pain, or pain throughout the spine and pelvis.
Physical Therapy:
Physical therapy focuses on the manual treatment of the soft tissue – muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia. Our Therapists use highly skilled, hands-on techniques to diagnose, prevent or treat underlying conditions and problems. It is based on health science principles and works alongside other health care practices.
Each treatment is individually tailored. The therapist, after carefully noting your history will consider psychological, social and environmental factors in devising a treatment plan and in suggesting appropriate changes to lifestyle, work practice or exercise.
Craniosacral Therapy:
CST frees up the tissues in and around the craniosacral system to encourage better flow of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). CSF nourishes, protects and cleans the central nervous system and improves nerve conductivity. Improved flow of CSF helps the body to perform better and heal itself.
Because it naturally complements the body”s natural healing processes, CST is increasingly used as a preventive health measure by encouraging a healthy immune system and increasing resistance to disease. It also promotes relaxation by calming the autonomic nervous system which can be compromised by hormonal and chemical releases which are released by the body as a natural response to coping with the stresses and strains of life today.
Sports Injuries:
The Sports Injury clinic compliments the physical therapy clinic with regards diagnosis, treatment of injuries and maintenance programs.
The emphasis is a hands on treatment using soft tissue manipulation, deep tissue massage, muscle energy techniques, myofascial release and trigger point techniques.
We also use electrotherapy in the form of ultrasound and faradic to form part of the treatment when required. A rehabilitation program is essential. Using Ultra sound, inflammation is reduced, scar tissue is broken down and tears will be healed. This HALVES the recovery time of any injury. Faradic machines are then used to strengthen the muscle and to regain full range of movement where possible. Faradic is a form of Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS).
Often, we have sports people and players that attend, having the same re-occuring injury year after year, even after the appropriate rest times. I have found that these injuries can be as a direct result of pelvic imbalance or misalignment. The manipulative therapy compined with sports injury therapy proves extremely successful in solving these injuries and preventing their re-occurrenec in the future. CST is also successful in helping these injuries, using fascial unwinding techniques.
