Cheers Joe, Cathal, Linda, Niall Blue Valentines presents Janice Igoe at Café Sessions Chapter 1 Special Guests: Rebecca O’Connor Thursday December 8th 8pm Adm: Suggested donation €5 Assisted by Cavan Co. Council Arts Awards & The Anglo Celt. Janice is a native of Cootehill Co. Cavan, where she has remained its best kept secret, She is a singer of immense talent with a purity of voice and richness of tonality that is simply beautiful. Her interpretation of her songs is both deeply emotional and intelligent. She has remained an enigmatic figure for years, rarely performing (apart from the rare appearance such as singing for the President Mary McAleese ) always singing and refining her art.For those who have heard her sing you would swear that she has been performing at the highest level for the past twenty years Matt Molloy described her as having a rare and wonderful voice, and that her version of "The Parting Glass" is simply the best he has ever heard. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fikA35MNiM Rebecca is co-founder and editor of The Moth, an international art & literature magazine based in Cavan. Her debut poetry collection We’ll Sing Blackbird was shortlisted for the Strong Shine Award. She recently featured in Poetry Ireland Review: The Rising Generation. She took up the guitar last year, and has been penning her own songs since. She made her singing debut at Electric Picnic in September.
