What a week. This day last week was a beautiful spring day and took Herbie (3yrs rising 4yr) for his first hack to the lake. Then Wednesday we were covered in snow. By Friday the drifts were unbelievable and finally today after Trojan work by the local hero's, the farmers, the lane cleared. Finally thawing out and water back in the drinkers tonight ( house still not 😥). Hopefully tomorrow most will thaw away and life can get back to near normal 😀😀

I heard the sad news today that George Kettlegird died yesterday. George built the beautiful yard and equestrian facilities here at Sallymount when he purchased the property. It was a yard way ahead of its time in Ireland and it has withstood the test of time and is still a really beautiful yard with happy horses enjoying all that he created. Thank you George. Only last week some of his clients were here looking at horses and reminiscing about their stays here when George was in residence. He was a great host..... George will be remembered by the Irish Sport horse world for a long time. Sincere condolences to his family. May he rest in peace in a place filled with happy horses.

A very very Happy Christmas to you all and heres hoping 2018 is a good year for everyone

This has been a very hard week. On Saturday I had to say goodby to Kas. Thirteen and a half years together through the good and bad times and he always gave of himself with a heart and a half. He has passed that wonderful temperament on to his offspring and I am blessed to have "Joey" here to carry on his legacy. He was a truly special horse and I miss him dearly. Then I got the news that Luidam had passed away. He had also carved himself a very special place in my heart. Such a wonderful character and such a talented horse. He was a really happy and gentle horse and I was so proud to be part of his life. Both horses have left sons and daughters to follow in their footsteps and I sincerely hope they give their connections as much joy as the boys gave me. Luidam is I believe one of the best sires this country has been lucky enough to stand and he performed for his country with merit. I hope some of his sons can continue his legacy and stand here in Ireland. Killossery Kasanova and Luidam Thank you for making my life special. Rest in peace.

Delighted with Oscar today. His first outing and he behaved like a pro. Selected for the Monart Elite Eventing Sale. Couldn't have behaved better. Super brain for a three year old. And so easy to handle in every way. Plaited up at 6am while munching his hay, loaded straight into the box, travelled without turning a hair (3hr hours each way) and never put a foot wrong at Monart. A very nice horse for the future.
