Well done to the Carrickmacross Youthreach students who travelled to Lough Neagh Discovery Centre yesterday to participate in the ECO-UNESCO Young Environmentalist Awards semi-finals. The team presented their project and film to a panel of expert judges and were very pleased with how it went, fingers crossed we make it to the YEA finals in May. Thanks to everyone who has liked and shared the video so far and helped us to raise awareness about the important issue of littering and illegal dumping. The film has now also been uploaded to YouTube so we can reach lots more people. https://youtu.be/88z3qPHzlEQ
What A Waste!
Congratulations to the Carrickmacross Youthreach students who have made it through to this year's ECO-UNESCO Young Environmentalist Awards semi-finals.The team were concerned by local media reports that littering and illegal dumping was increasing in their local area. They set out to produce a short documentary film to investigate the issue. The film entitled ‘What A Waste’ aims to highlight the scale of the issue, its negative effects on the environment and what we all can do to help solve the problem. The team filmed at local sites where littering and fly-tipping had taken place and also interviewed the Environmental Officer and Environmental Patrol Warden from Monaghan County Council.

Five of us attended the 1916 Centenary Flag ceremony in Croke Park today and got our Irish flag. We were not alone... there were 5,995 other freezing cold people there from all over the country! Despite the cold it felt good to be part of it and it was interesting to learn about how the colours of the flag represent peace between people from all different religions and backgrounds in Ireland.
