So while I was away someone bent the loading pin on the log. Yes shit happens and things get damaged and broke but at least have the decency to tell a member of staff or myself that it has happened. That's several bits of kit damaged lately and put back without telling anyone. If you can't respect the equipment and have the decency to keep the place tidy after event training then please find somewhere else to train!

Strength of character A pet hate of mine and possibly the biggest cause in a competitors lack of progress is there unwillingness to compete out of their perceived depth for fear of coming last or being unable to complete events. It's far easier to enter lower level competitions with a greater chance of winning or at least making podium, but as a competitor put your ego to one side and ask yourself which is of more benefit to you, enter a car park show against guy's you have already beaten for yet another relatively insignificant trophy for your cabinet, or step up a level and actually compete against guys that are physically stronger than you? Yes you might place last or close to it and it will suck, but you will be constantly learning and educating yourself on the habits and techniques of those that you aspire to be as strong as. The benefits will be obvious when those you thought of as unbeatable you one day manage to beat in even one event. This will elude you if you continue to enter novice comps (after your no longer a novice), only competing within your weight class (90kg guys refusing to compete against 105kg guys because being 15kg heavier is too much of an advantage but an open 120kg competitor will go up against a 160kg plus guy with no issues or complaints) or "cherry-pick" competitions that only have your "good" events in them! The sport is called "strongman" for a reason, time to act like a man, stop being a little bitch and step out of your comfort zone, people might actually remember you if you do this or do you prefer being the local hero in some little town or village? Let me give you the perfect example of stepping out of your comfort zone going completely against the odds and the benefits of doing so. I'll introduce you to Nick Hadge, Ultimate Strongman Junior World Champion of 2016 which is an awesome achievement in itself, a world title no less! However Nick had yet to compete at pro level. That was to change when he received an invite to the Ultimate Strongman Summermania event the 10th of June. The line up itself was world class, so much so that Nick was the only competitor out of the ten to have never competed at world's strongest man. Quite daunting to say the least but it gets even worse for Nick when we look at the events on paper. Event 1 tyre flip - an event nick came last in the world juniors was never going to be a good event for him at pro level on paper. Event 2 log press - the opening weight on the log press would be a pb for Nick and we all know comp warm ups are far from ideal and unlike those in training. High probability this will be a big zero in this event. Event 3 380kg frame carry - Nick has good grip but would be competing against some of the best grip merchants on earth. Event 4 350kg car deadlift for reps. Nick's best event and one which on paper might see him place top half of the field. . . . . Remember this is his best event!! The final event would be atlas stone up to 175kg. Going off the juniors this was again an event where he dropped valuable points. Realistically on paper anything better than bottom two would be an awesome result in a world class line-up and that is not being disrespectful to Nick in anyway. The majority, if not all of the aforementioned people at the start of this post would have dropped this comp for reasons already explained. Nick was also giving away 20kg+ bodyweight on every other competitor. Nick being the incredible athlete he is was just going to tear up that script. Even at breakfast the morning of the comp he was feeling ill but that wasn't enough to distract his focus from the task at hand. His mental strength and focus were on point as he faced his toughest competition to date. His first event was tyre flip and he went at it like a man possessed with a blistering pace that was good enough for sixth place. He was catching the attention of other competitors already! Next up his big bogey event of the comp log for max. Against all odds he pressed the opening lift and set a new PB which tied him in 7th place and he was really beginning to win over the crowd. Third event was where he really came into his element. 380kg frame carry for 20m. This four laned event saw nick pip the legend Terry Hollands to the finish line securing him a 3rd place overall. Fourth event 380kg car deadlift, his best event and another 3rd place finish. Leaving only stones for the last event Nick placed fifth in this event. As the dust settled and the final scores were added up and placings called Nick had managed to finish fifth overall . . . . . . . . Just let that sink in for one moment . . . . . . Fifth in his first pro comp being the lightest competitor and the only one never at WSM. Nick stepped out of his comfort zone completely and in doing so set himself apart from so many other competitors, he didn't let any previous results, events or expectations deter him. There are so many "strongmen" out there that need to take example from him and in doing so you might reach your full potential. How many opportunities have you missed due to preconceived thoughts of failure? BELIEVE!!!!

Definitely my favourite way to make your meals is to have a meal prep day. Cook 4-7 days meals at a time, freeze & use as required. To make sure ur hitting ur macros( protein-carbs-fats) when cooking multiple meals, i find it easier to use foods high in one macro and low in the other 2 makes it easier to calculate recipe's. E.g - Carbs - 'basmati rice' or 'barley' High carbs - Protein source - Very low fat Protein - 'Lean chicken fillets' or 'lean stir fry beef' High Protein - No carb - Very low fat Fats 'raw coconut butter' or 'virgin olive oil' High Fat - No carb - No protein Carbs Weigh out rice first. Making 4 meals @ 40g carbs approx each = 200g rice - will also have a total of 20g protein Protein Deduct the protein from rice from total required. Making 4 meals @ 40g protein approx each = 700g chicken fillet - will have no carbs and very little fat Fat Add coconut butter or olive oil as required I.M.O you dont have to be 100% accurate with the numbers but be 100%...

So hard keep at it in the winter months.. but we push ourselves!!
I wasted to much of my life been "insecure" constantly worrying about what other people thought of me, how they would feel towards me if I did this or that, I completely lacked in confidence & self belief. It took many steps & techniques for me to conquer my insecurities & become a confident person, 1 of the methods I used was to "act confident" I stepped totally out of my comfort zone but I pretended to be confident in the situations I put myself in 🙈 even thou on the inside I was crumbling! I learned to become comfortable being uncomfortable, this was step 1. I love this saying "great things never came from a comfort zone" Your not the only one who feels this way ❤ _________________________________ #selfbelief #insecurities #gymmotivation #monstersgym #fitfam #gymgoals #bodyconfidence #bodybuilding #strongmindset #strongwoman #healthymind #healthybody #selfesteem #believeinyourself #juststrong #martindoranphotography #emmashealthandfitnesstraining #fitspo #girlswholift...
