Community Development Project  Cabra CDP is a locallly managed community project based in Naomh Fionnbarra GAA Club Complex.  The aims of the project is to help local people develop sustainable community initiatives and to assist the growth and development of individuals and groups with a focus on social inclusion.  The project links with all community groups within the area, sits on management and development committees including Citizens Information, John Paul Park Sports Complex and Cabra for Youth.  We also work closely with a range of state and statutory agencies.  One of our main projects is working with the local senior network and producing a monthly senior newsletter 'Cabra Senior News'.  We also host a community gardening project, a range of social education programmes and a range of community volunteering initiatives.  The local historical society which also links into the local schools and cultural groups is an example of our work.  If you would like to assist the project with their work or need more information on any aspect of our work dont hestiate to contact the project.

Senior Health Initiative Seniors undergo an 8 week health and exercise programme in conjunction with Waterford IT. The group join together every week to be assessed and partake in a light programme designed by Waterford students. It is designed to enhance coordination, balance and overall fitness. Next stop Mount Everest!!!

Local Knitting Group Senior citizens meet at Santa Maria on a Wednesday for weekly knitting groups. Here they have informal chats... (Gossip!!!) while they knitt and drink lots of tea :) Have a look at these beautiful hampers that were created within the group.

National Proclimination

Pictures here show the recent events as part of the Cabra community. 1916- 2016 commemoration. There was a wide range of activities and events taking place in the Cabra area involving all sections of the community. Copies of the committee’s programme of events are available from the CDP office. Pictures show local ladies from the Cabra History and Foklore project May Dunne, Kathleen Atkison and local resident ( Sgt in the defence forces) Joanne Smith. Pictures also show local residents members of the Cabra re-enacting group and children from the Gael school Barra who performed a bilingual play based on the events of the 1916 rising in the centre of the GPO at O Connell Street on the day in which over 200 people viewed their performance.
