At Grangecon Café & Foodstore we make every effort to buy only the very best quality ingredients. We try to source as much local, organic and the very best Irish foodstuffs!  We make absaloutely everything in the cafe. Organic bread, yeast, traditional soda and focaccia. All pastries including the very best puff pastry. Really healthy and delicious soups, Quiches, the best sausage rolls, vegetarian specials and then some really yummy cakes, sweet tarts and biscuits! All to eat in or take away for a buzy week end.

Snapshots from June! Preparing artichokes, cooked a la greque with lemon, bay & coriander seed. Dolmades, stuffed cabbage leaves with brown rice, currants, pine nuts & fistfuls of fresh mint & parsley. All the vegetables came from Castleruddery organic farm!

Something delicious on the hoof! Try these meltingly delicious spinach & cais na tire tarts! A tiny teaspoon of sweet onion, Castleruddery spinach blanched briefly to wilt, Cais na tire a fabulous Irish sheeps cheese similar to pecorino, Dunlavin dairy cream & Castlefarm eggs with a dusting of nutmeg. All the best in one delicious shortcrust pastry tart.

Hot on the menu today! Seasonal vegetable chilli using Castleruddery organic vegetables, sweede, carrots & parsnips with tomatoes, kidney beans, peppers, chillies & spices! We serve it with brown rice so it makes a really healthy, wholesome lunch! We also have some in the freezer for those frenzied days! We are closed this Saint Patrick's day & are really sorry for any inconvenience caused!

Siphons pies, a special Easter sweet made on the island of Siphnos! we are making them in the cafe using Macroom buffalo ricotta, honey, raw cane sugar & Castlefarm eggs with a dusting of cinnamon! Truly delicious!

Try our really tasty seasonal salad to go! roasted Castleruddery parsnips with Highbank Apple syrup, organic apples & gorgeous Killeen goats cheese with organic leaves, Llewellyn balsamic vinagar & extra virgin olive oil. Try our delicious onion & killeen goats cheese tarts, cut up here for tasty canapés. Home made puff pastry, red onions finely sliced & cooked until melted & sweet with a hint of dried chilli, fresh thyme leaves & maldon salt, topped with Killeen & cooked until meltingly delicious! Add a handful of Castleruddery Organic Farm salad leaves, a little vinagrette & tuck in!

Delicious bitter Marmalade in the making! Organic Seville oranges & raw cane sugar, nothing else! But only half the sugar of regular marmalade! Out of which we made a delicious marmalade cake, perfect for a wet & windy February! With blood orange icing.
