The Alzheimer Society of Ireland was delighted to receive a cheque last week from our charity partner Allianz for €25,000. Throughout 2015, Allianz's generous staff took part in numerous fundraising events such as Tea Day and rolled up their sleeves to volunteer at our Day Care Centre in Curlew Road. A huge thank you to the employees in Allianz for their continued support. These funds allow us to continue to provide services for people with dementia and their carers across the country where there is ever increasing demand. We at The ASI are very much looking forward to continuing this valued partnership during 2016.

Some beautiful and sad words from our Vote To Remember supporter Lisa.. Five weeks ago, I gave birth to my third beautiful daughter. She arrived safely and loudly and the whole family visited and celebrated. My dad didn’t visit. My dad doesn’t know he has a new grandchild. My dad, who would spend hours playing with the other grandchildren in the garden up until 18 months ago, no longer knows who they are. He sits in his hospital bed, bewildering welcoming family members at visits. My baby daughter won’t have memories of playing with her grandad. My eldest might just be able to hold on to them. I’m asking my local TD’s to invest in local infrastructures to support families with an Alzheimer’s diagnosis. Help to tell them where to go, what to expect, questions to ask. They can’t help with the heartbreak, but they can help guide families through it.” Please go to www.votetoremember.ie and do the same. Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much,
