We are an Irish owned and operated company which supplies affordable, hand selected english willow (grown and nurtured) cricket bats in Ireland We are an Irish owned and operated company which supplies affordable, hand selected english willow (grown and nurtured) cricket bats on the island of Ireland. We offer over 50 years experience in selecting and maintaining bats to enjoy and score runs with.

Each bat is hand selected from a manufacturer that only uses willow sourced directly from JS Wright and Sons in Essex, UK, who supply 90% of the willow worldwide. The Clefts are then transported to the manufacturers factory overseas, where they are hand crafted by a team of specialist bat makers. The bats are then shipped back to the warehouse and storage facilities in the UK. Flashing Blade Cricket carefully selects its bats directly from this facility and brings them to Ireland.

We use a number of criteria in selecting bats, but primarily look for:

1. 'Ping'
2. Balance
3. Quality*

*To keep prices affordable, we tend to select bats that have cosmetic 'flaws' and which are not suitable for other, more mainstream brands. The result of this is that we can supply bats which should deliver equivilent performance, but at a substantially lower cost.

Nothing to do with cricket but I would like to pay my respects to big Cyrille Regis who unexpectedly passed away over the weekend aged just 59. I saw him score a brilliant goal against Norwich at Carrow Road and the enitre crowd just shook their heads and applauded - even the home fans. A brilliant player and he paved the way for all black sports players. RIP, an absolute legend..

England beat Australia!! I know, it's not something that we have heard recently but in todays ODI at Melbourne an England XI chased down Australia's 304 to win by 5 wickets. How good is that? and take a bow Jason Roy,180 to set a new highest ODI score by an Englishman. I think there might be a bat deal there Jason - fantastic knock - well played fella

Oh dear.... England getting truly gubbed by Aussies - three centurions, nearly 700 runs and grab 4 early wickets.. long way back.... lessons to be learned, lots of them.

Hmmm..... Mason Crane gets his first test wicket - well done Mason - but The Aussies turn the screw. Ball is turning and England are going to have to bat through two spinners when the Aussies declare (or are scuttled). Final days are likely to be the toughest of the tour. Character (and career) forming..

Mason Crane gets the call.. enjoy it Mason, you only debut once.... and if you could possibly snare Smith & Warner we would all be grateful

Damp squib in Melbourne. Draw. Flat pitch, no cutting edge.. what next for Sydney. Aussies have called up Ashton Agar, should England throw Mason Crane into the fray? Moeen is a busted flush, no wickets, no runs, but will a debut in Sydney against a rampant Australia damage Mason Crane? Tough call...

Best bit about the rain stop in Australia today? Glenn McGraths explanation as to how to fend off an attack from a great white shark.. although he personally has only needed to use it against bronze whaler sharks. You never know when this snippet of information might come in useful.....swim straight at it and attack it first, it won’t be expecting that. Gutsy move!!!

Class is permanent - Alastair Cook 244 N.O. Fantastic effort, world class. Sadly 3 matches too late, but what a fight back. Brilliant support from Stuart Broad too - got his mojo back.. That’s more like it England, let’s see how the Aussies respond.. tomorrow mornings session is pivotal.
