Ballinasloe Care & Repair
Description
Care & Repair is a voluntary organisation under the umbrella of Age Action Ireland founded to assist the elderly in our Community remain independently in their own homes. Care and Repair was founded in April 2010. This idea was developed by Age Action Ireland and when the franchise was offered to Ballinasloe Social Services, a group of volunteers came together to run the scheme. With the help of Ballinasloe Training for Employment, an office was equipped and staffed in the Social Services Centre in Brackernagh. Funding from various sources included the Mercy Sisters Western Province, the Lions Club and Ballinasloe Carol singers. A wide range of tasks have been carried out to date. These include minor gardening, installing hand rails, changing plugs/fuses/light bulbs, hanging curtains, moving furniture, minor decorating/painting, installing security locks & chains, installing smoke alarms, minor plumbing and electrical work. Now, almost two years later Ballinasloe Care and Repair is well established and looking forward to developing its services into the future.
