Description
Athboy Community School was formed by the amalgamation of St. James’ Vocational School and St. Joseph’s Secondary School in 2004 The school provides a wide range of subjects in practical, academic and vocational areas of the curriculum. A co-ordinated system of pastoral care, combined with the promotion of extra-curricular activities will facilitate the holistic development of all pupils.

facebook.comThe Second Year Boyle CSPE class from Athboy Community School visited the Houses of the Oireachtas on the 11th of April last. The students took part in a guided tour of both the Dáil and Seanad chambers and engaged in a question and answer session with local TD Damien English. They also witnessed the introduction of a new portrait of President Michael D. Higgins in Leinster House. The students found the trip to be a most interesting and informative experience.
Geography Field Trip A group of 51 Fifth Year Geography students from Athboy Community School with teachers Mr. Magner, Ms Shanley and Ms Barrett went to Kippure House Estate near Blessington in Co. Wicklow for a river field study on Tuesday April 10th. The purpose of the field trip was to investigate the impact of geomorphic processes of erosion, transportation and deposition in a river environment. They students are now producing a report on the field trip which is worth 20% of their Leaving Certificate Geography examination.
Athboy Community School will hold its Annual Golf Classic in Royal Tara Golf Club on Monday 7th May. All welcome.
The Athboy Community School Transition Year class have been very busy this term and have reaped the rewards of their hard labour as they scooped prizes in the County Meath Film Festival and also the Meath Schools Enterprise Competition. All this and playing host to a group of visiting students and teachers from Lycée Jean Monnet from Picardie, France during the first leg of a student exchange programme.
Well done to the Transition Year pupils of Athboy Community School and their French Exchange visitors from Lycée Jean Monnet in France on their award from the Athboy St. Patrick''s Day Paeade committee. The students have just completed an action packed week together and will join up once again for the second leg of the exchange on Thursday.
Athboy Community School will re-open on tomorrow Monday 5th March. Please note that access to some of the outdoor areas may be restricted where snow has not fully thawed. Some school buses may not run their full route where roads have not been sufficiently cleared.
