Drug Rehabiliation and a Filipino Fellowship where we have a church building in Siu Lam Village.
We are a drug rehab centre that can intake in 30 in rehab, and 20 that are ex-addicts and homeless because the have been rejected by their family because of their pastor drug habits. Our centre in Siu Lam Village began in September 1999. We have a full time staff of 4, and 5 volunteers. All these workers and former drug addicts who are graduates from our centre. Most have been with us for 10 years or more. We have four in training to go on staff who are in Bible Colleges. We are required by the Hong Kong government Social Welfare Department to be licensed, and we are working towards that now with a 1,000,000.00 US dollar building project. We have about 100 ex addicts on the outside that have been off drugs at least three years. Most are married and many now have children.

I, Pastor Charles McKnelly, have been awarded the Compassion Award for 2016. Over ten years ago we helped two young men who were ex drug addicts build a drug rehabilitation center on Lamo Island which is just off the coast of the city of Shantou China (see the cover photo) Four years ago they gave it up to go to Bible Colleges and it has been closed for over four years. We now have a chance to reopen it as we now have the Compassion Award Funding as you will see in the newspaper article from the Sang Tao Newspaper here in Hong Kong. We have three of our young men from Hong Kong that want to go to China to stay in China to reopen it. We have two from Shantou China who are also Bible College students that we also go to help. Two from Hong Kong are Bible College students. One has graduated from the Agape Leadership Training Center and is now a Bible College instructor. The city of Shantou Chiu Chau has about 10,000,000 people and one on christian drug rehab. So, opening this new center will give many drug addicts a new lease on life.

Fifty Six years ago when I came to Hong Kong I was sick for the first three months trying to get used to the food. I had diarrhea most of the time. Well, my son Chan Chung Wai the left one in the Photo has gone to the Philippines as a missionary and he has been very very ill with diarrhea in the Hospital. He is very much improved and coming out in a day or two. Pray for Chung Wai as what is going through is a real test of his faith.
Will be 79 years old in November. Hard to believe

Chan Chung Wai is now 50 years old and going as a missionary to Cebu Philippines. I have known for many years that the Lord has put a call on his life for full time Christian service He for one year attended Bible College, but he has had lots of opposition from family and friends. He will be going to service in an orphanage. He wants do this because he was homeless as a child. Amazing that we now have young men wanting to go out of Hong Kong to share the new life that Jesus can give. The one on the right in the picture is Chan Ka Shing and he is now my driver and is going to Bible College. We believe he will be going to the drug rehabilitation center that we are going to be setting up in near Shantou China after he finishes his Bible College courses. If fact, we have two more wanting to go to China to do drug rehabilitation.

We are applying to the Compassion Award fund for $90,000.00 US dollars to open a new ministry to train ex addicts are ministers of the gospel. To train and send them out over Asia to minister to people in bondage. We are setting up new society to be called the Servant Makers Society. There are four vacant unused houses in our village. Pray we will get one of the large two story houses as a ministry training center for The Servant Makers Society.
SERVANT MAKERS SOCIETY REACHING OUT TO ASIA with love! Training young men to be dedicated to serve those in deep hurting bondage. Our goal is to not just get young addicts out of drug but to turn them in to servants of the Word preaching the gospel all over Asia. Project One We need to rent a large village house in Siu Lam Village or near by for a training center for those who are seeking new faith and a complete life change where they will be separated from hindrances and ridicule that might cause them to get discourage and want to quit and give up on their cause. Residential training is needed to encourage those seeking big changes in their lives and attitudes so to learn to love others and come out of their many years of selfishness because drug taking destroys the ability to really serve and love others. By working and living together as a family with a trainers receiving mentoring on how to serve and give to other less fortunate we believe will produce leaders. The Program This program includes morning and afternoon classes in counseling, managing emotions such as overcoming rejection building faith to accept and love others and love and respect oneself with instruction on how to work with others with humility and with obedience without a controlling spirit. How to overcome past hurts and be healed of them. How to serve effectively in a charitable organization with commitment and unselfish faithfulness.
