Today we wonder around the beautiful village of Likotinara or Likotinarea with the balcony-square that generously offers the splendid view to the northern east coast and the plain of our prefecture until Rethymno. Where the endless blue can take us away! Only 10 minutes drive from Vamos Village. A small, picturesque settlement of 50 inhabitants above the cliffs on the edge of Apokoronas. With its stone-built houses and the well groomed courtyards, they retain the architectural character and the natural environment untouched. Main attractions are the church of the village, the square-balcony where the villagers gather, the tavern-ouzeri in the big plateau and the chapel on the way to Kefalas village. The village celebrates Virgin Mary (Panagia) every 14th and 15th of August, and people gather from the surrounding villages for the traditional feast with good food and local wine until early in the morning....

Today we wander around Xirosterni, a quiet village of 70 permanent residents in Apokoronas, still remaining untouched by tourism. It is located at an altitude of 240 meters and is adjacent to the much larger villages of Vamos and Kefalas. The village over its main road extends to smaller sidewalks that create a small maze of beautiful picturesque houses and beautiful landscaped courtyards. The main attraction is the central church dedicated to Christ . A lot of people from Chania and the surrounding villages visit the village to celebrate on August 5th and 6th. A great feast is set up with good Cretan music, lots of traditional food and red good wine until the early hours of the morning!

Today we wander around a picturesque village of 120 people...Litsarda! Litsarda is located 32 km away from the city of Chania and only 2 km from Vamos Village. Narrow streets, traditional restored houses with large beautifully tended gardens, blooming spring flowers and trees offering us a magical scenery. Photos: Christophoros Papadakis
