The largest EU-funded programme promoting sustainable consumption and production (SCP) in Asia. Since 2008 the European Commission has been funding the SWITCH-Asia Programme to promote economic prosperity and help reduce poverty in Asia by encouraging a sustainable growth with a low environmental impact from industries and consumers in line with international environmental agreements and processes.  
The Programme specifically aims at promoting sustainable consumption and production (SCP) among small and medium sized entreprises (SMEs) in Asia by working with intermediary organisations and not-for-profit entities.
SWITCH-Asia operates via a combination of grant projects, national and regional policy support components and a network facility.

#SDG12 💚#SDG5: By helping small companies that sell #jute-based products enhance their design skills and market outreach, this Traidcraft-led SWITCH-Asia project in #Bangladesh and #India has helped dozens of female entrepreneurs and artisans strengthen their business, create stabler employment, enjoy better paying jobs and improved working conditions. More than 3 years after the project's closure, these companies are still flourishing and expanding their jute-based business, recruiting more artisans, many of them women. In Bangladesh, a SWITCH-Asia project led by SNV Netherlands Development Organisation is training 10 000 farmers, both male and female, on safer mango & tomato production practices.
