Paul Fogarty
Description
Paul is a touring singer/songwriter from Australia. He plays guitar, lap slide Hawaiian guitar, ukulele, stomp box, harmonica, piano, keyboards, percussion, bass etc... Paul started singing for hours and hours every day at the age of three and has never stopped. His first on-stage appearances were as Zorro as a three-year-old and his first singing performances were in primary school Christmas recitals when he was seven years old.
"The school principal thought I was the best singer... but then again, we only had 22 kids in the whole school," Paul says.
He got his first guitar from Woolworths when he was 13. "It cost 12 dollars and ninety-nine cents," he says. "But the strings were so far above the fret board that you couldn't play chords... only single notes, and even that was murder. My fingers were always bleeding..."
At fifteen he wrote his first song. "It just sort of came into my head, like a dream."
He's written more than 1000 songs since then. He turned pro in 2001 after years as a journalist, editor, public relations guy, taxi driver, postal worker, clerk and cleaner.
He's released three independent albums since 2001. All 38 songs from those albums got radio airplay in Australia on ABC, commercial radio and community radio.
In 2000 he co-founded the famous Peregian Originals original acoustic music concerts which are still conducted fortnightly and draw crowds of 1000 people throughout the year on Queensland's Sunshine Coast.
Since 2009 Paul has been living in Germany with his wife and four-year-old daughter and playing concerts and festivals throughout Europe.
