Description
Yoga is easy and everyone can do it! Especially Yoga Nidra, letting go of everything. Relaxing on a physical, mental and emotional level. Yoga Nidra
Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep) originates from the Tantras. It is a very powerful tool for deep relaxation.
The practitioner lies down on a mat or bed. No physical movement should be taken for (the entire)-(the duration of the) practice. It is 'simply' about following the instructions given to you on the recording without getting distracted.
The practise begins by focusing on different parts of the body, mental exercises follow and the cycle is completed using visualisation techniques.
The aim is to not fall asleep. The practitioner is in a state between waking and sleeping. Contact with the subconscious and, with sufficient practice, the unconscious mind can be made which is helpful for therapeutic purposes.
Yoga Nidra is a systematic method of inducing complete physical, mental and emotional relaxation. This results in a better balance on all levels for the day to day life.
Yogic sleep is a subcategory of Pratyahara (sensory withdrawal), it has been demonstrated by Swami Satyananda Saraswati that Yoga Nidra improves memory, enhances creativity and eliminates unwanted cognitive fluctuations.
He has also shown that one hour of well practiced Yoga Nidra is equivalent to a maximum of three hours of regular sleep.
