Primavera e.V.
Description
The private aid organization Primavera was founded to help children and young adults in emerging and developing countries. The aid organization Primavera was founded by ten employees of the company Robert Bosch, with the aim to help children from the slums in developing and emerging countries and to offer them a new perspective.
Although the number of members has risen considerably in the meantime, the organization still consists of former and active Bosch employees mostly. Thus, the social responsibility of the company founder Robert Bosch is being carried on in the world.
Primavera does not limit its initiatives on medical care or the basic needs of more than 30,000 children only. For the organization it is important, to offer children a way out of the poverty cycle. Therefore, we support many educational or vocational activities to to enable them an independent living in the long-term.
Supported are 37 projects in 12 different countries, which are managed by volunteering employees at the local Bosch locations and together with social facilities on site. Thus, every euro donated by members, friends, sponsors numerous events and countless private initiatives flows directly into the project groups.

facebook.comOn the last weekend of August, the 2017 Brewery Festival took place at Stuttgart's Hofbräu in the south of the state capital - for the first time for two days! For several years now, Bosch employees, above all participants of the Junior Managers Program (JMP), have been supporting this event in the service of Primavera e. V. This time the volunteers from Germany, India and Hungary took part in the brewery tour and beer tastings with a beer sommelier. As a thank-you we were pleased to receive a cheque of € 1,300 for Primavera, as well as the cool Hofbräu specialities after the work was done, which were just the right thing at the high summer temperatures. We would like to thank Stuttgarter Hofbräu -offizielle Seite- and the Radeberger Group for this opportunity and have already promised to come to Stuttgart in 2018.
Spark of Joy Season 3 - 132,000 Euros for a good cause The Event took place on 5th of August, Saturday at Christ College Auditorium and it was spectacular for a fantastic cause – Primavera India where more than 1000 children are positively impacted and have sustainable changes in their lives. The entire show and the hard work which everyone has put in is a living example of “We are Bosch” and the glue of Bosch India. It was also realized that each one of the contributors has tremendous hidden talents and passion and just needed a platform to show case it. Well done and thank you very much. This will not be the last of its events and Spark of Joy will continue. This Event would not have been possible without Karthik and Ashwani (Conception, Direction, Production and Choreography), Bharath (choreography, Ban loc), location choreographers, and Rajni and Kumar of Desi Magic (the entire event management and putting together the Sound of Music, Saravana, and Ms Dixit). Heartfelt gratitude also goes to the Corp Heads, BU Heads, Legal Entity Heads, Plant Managers and RBEI/JMT who have encouraged everyone to make this happen with record participation from different locations across India.

Fundraising for the Indian daycare Chiguru Foundation Trust
Donating for a concrete need – what happened with our pilot on betterplace.org? About one year ago we started a new fundraising project using the platform betterplace.org. There you can choose a concrete need of a project and the money you donate is used 100% for this purpose. We started the pilot with the Indian Chiguru daycare center (Bangalore), which serves young people who suffer from physical and mental disabilities. This institution is supported by Primavera e.V. for many years. In May 2016 about 1460€ (about 30% of the total needs) were collected and passed to the Chiguru daycare center. The money was spent for digital hearing aids, insulin and a wheelchair. Now, in November 2016 Stefan Grosch, member of Primavera board, visited the Chiguru center to get an impression of the center in general and to see what happened to the donations collected on betterplace.org. He met the boys who were directly supported by this project and also had the chance to talk to the parents of the two boys who received the hearing aids and therefore were able to hear for the first time of their lives. They expressed their greatest thanks to Primavera. Mr. Grosch returned highly motivated to keep supporting the Chiguru Center and with a very positive impression of how the money was used to help these children in offering them a way to a self-determined life. There is still money needed to finance health and educational needs of this project. We still need your support – donate here: https://www.betterplace.org/en/projects/34512-fundraising-for-the-indian-daycare-chiguru-foundation-trust

ONE DAY BACK AT SCHOOL IN INDIA – NEELBAGH SCHOOL PRIMAVERA On the 24th of September I visited the Neelbagh School, around 80 kilometers outside of Bangalore. The Neelbagh School has the goal of providing quality education to children whose parents were not fortunate enough to get even basic schooling. Additionally it provides consultancy to other schools following the same concept in order to create standard education around Bangalore. **First impressions and great openness** Immediately after my arrival I received a warm welcome from Mr. Manjunath the principal of the school. He showed me around the campus and introduced me to different teachers. The campus offers various facilities, like a computer room, a library, dining area, amphitheater, etc. All the materials, like computers and books, are donated and provide the pupils an important source complementary to their school books and course materials. Mr. Manjunath explained the concept of the school with such an enthusiasm that I am sure that the education plays the most important role there. Unfortunately there is also a downside. Like he also explained, such a school exists maybe one or two times in the south of India. There are other schools but not with such a high educational standard. Furthermore some kids are more than 1000 km away from their families to have the best chances of receiving such an education. In order to improve this situation the Neelbagh School is in close collaboration with other school transferring knowledge and experiences in education. This change is only possible with support from organizations like PRIMAVERA and therefore your support, so that also other kids get the opportunity to receive best education. **My first class and the bus ride home** After lunch I joined a chemistry lesson of a 7th grade class. Everybody was concentrating and it felt like they know what opportunity they got by joining the school and how important education is. The next lesson I attended was an art & dance lesson of a 2nd grade class. Interacting with them was so much fun. We danced, talked and created some clay figures. I had a great time :-) After this class everybody left for the bus ride. I joined them on their way home. It was kind of narrow with 120 kids on the bus but an awesome ride. **Last impression** At the end I can say it was a good decision to go and it showed me one more side of India. One point always keeps me thinking – even though India is a developing country the people, like these kids and teachers, are always full of joy and good mood. This makes me realize that it is not about the material wealth that makes someone happy but about the people and your openness to them. **How to support? Their needs?** The Neelbagh School is a great school giving the children the opportunity to make a first step in their life career. However, there are a lot of needs for which support is appreciated. Everybody who wants support the school can get more information following this link to donate (http://www.primavera-ev.de/en/spenden/spenden_1.html). Remember “It’s not how much we give but how much love we put into giving”.

Today we continue our series "360° primaera insight" with Fabienne Florentin Chanut, who actively supports the cooperation between Primavera and the Hand-to-Hand foundation in Thailand. Enjoy reading! Name and function – Who are you? "My name is Fabienne Florentin Chanut. I am French, a mother of 4 children and I have been living in Thailand as an expatriate for 3 years." How and when did you get in touch with primavera for the first time? "I got in contact with Primavera thanks to the Bosch community as my husband works in this company. About 2 years ago, Claudia Hayes, who was already involved in Primavera, contacted me and a friend to help Primavera to develop an educational program within the Hand to Hand foundation. We all knew this foundation through our children’ school and we were already very impressed by the energy and seriousness of the team in helping children from Pattaya slums to get a basic education. I accepted to be volunteer for Primavera and to be a liaison person between both parts because the foundation Hand to Hand was completely in line with Primavera‘s objective e.g. education for non-priviledged children. Indeed by providing academic and behavior skills, the foundation enables children to get out of the slums and to integrate Thai governmental schools. Primavera is a key partner for Hand to Hand: donations from Primavera allow the foundation to pay the school fees, transportation, uniforms, books and material. Today Primavera supports more than 10 students from pre-school to university. This support is crucial for all these children who could not find a space of peace and fulfillment and could not imagine another life than slums." What is your motivation to support primavera and was there a special primavera moment for you? "The children that Primavera is supporting are all happy and thankful to go to school and to Hand to Hand. They all try to do their best and show constant improvement in their school life. One of the most touching moment I experienced there was the day when we announced to Ploy, a 22 years old girl, that Primavera will keep on sponsoring her 4th year of studies at university to finish her degree in biology and chemistry. She just started to cry, she cried of joy, of gratitude and of relief. Her dream to graduate and to find a proper job to help her family for a decent life was still possible. That moment was really special and as a volunteer I felt very satisfied to support a courageous, persevering and self-willed young lady. And this, it is Primavera that made it possible! A huge thank you!"

120 performers, more than 30 volunteers: an evening to spark joy and spread change The performers came from Bengaluru, Nashik and Jaipur. Their dances and songs were rooted in the rich cultural heritage of various Indian regions and languages. Their costumes reflected almost every color of the rainbow – which was apt, since the theme of the Spark of Joy Season 2 was the rainbow or “Indradhanush” as it’s known in Sanskrit. The aim of the event, held on the evening of August 7, 2016, was to raise funds for Primavera India so it can support the work of 10 trusts across the country that help underprivileged children realize a better quality of life. The evening was defined by the sight of Bosch associates from across locations coming together to battle childhood poverty and need. The fierceness of commitment was apparent – whether in the battle cry of the Maratha warrior that rang through the dhol tasha performance of the Nashik plant Bosch associates or the mythic resonance of the troupe of Yakshagana performers from Bosch Bengaluru or the twirling, delirious dance of Jaipur employees performing the kalbeliya. And it was not just Bosch associates who shone on stage. Bright young children from the Prasanna Trust and Ashraya Foundation – two organizations supported by Primavera for the work they do in helping needy children get access to quality education and a better life – put on show-stopping performances as well. The popular stand-up comedian Ashwin Mathew was also a star guest performer, cracking jokes about growing up in 80s Bengaluru (a nostalgic walk down memory lane punctuated by guffaws of laughter for many in the audience). A second successful year Spark of Joy Season 2 built on the foundations laid in 2015 when the first two events aimed at raising funds for Primavera India were held. Those events, too, were a result of cooperation across Bosch India business divisions and the hard work of volunteers. For the second edition of Spark of Joy, the work that went behind the scenes itself tells how much effort was required to put on this hugely successful show: 120 performers, more than a month of rehearsals to get every step right, more than 30 volunteers. And of course, prior to that tickets to the event were sold both through an online ticketing system (a first for Bosch India) and offline through ticket coordinators across locations. All the sales proceeds will go to benefit the organizations supported by Primavera India. Now in its 26th year, Primavera is an organization that is driven by the hard work of Boschlers united by a desire to rid the world of childhood poverty. “I believe the children are our future - teach them well and let them lead the way,” sang George Benson way back in the 70s. This is Primavera’s belief as well and its role in transforming the lives of thousands of children for the better underscores the importance and success of its mission.

Today we continue our series "360° insight primavera" with a person known by all members of Primavera e.V. If you need a donation receipt or if you would like to become a member... she will support you. Read more about the leader of our administrative office: Gabriele Geisbauer. Name and function – Who are you? "My name is Gabriele Geisbauer. After 40 years of working at Bosch, I am now retired. Since 1995 I am member of Primavera and since 2002 I am responsible for the administrativ office and member in the Primavera board." What are your touch points with primavera? "I am working for the administrativ office which means I take care of the agenda and the protocol during board and general meetings. I also maintain the database of members and donators, I administer the donation receipts, the correspondence with members and donators and handle other inquiries. Moreover I’m taking care of projects in Mexico and Romania. During the week, I am one day in the office at Schillerhöhe, apart from that I am on the PC at home." How and when did you get in touch with primavera for the first time? In 1994 Mrs. Waas-Frey approached me and asked whether I could establish the database of members and donators for Primavera. Until then, the donation receipts where issued and sent by the city of Stuttgart. This was laborious work with hundreds of little sheets of paper. However, Mrs. Waas-Frey convinced me and so I gradually built up the new data base. In the meantime there was even an update so that today we have an even better working data base. What is your motivation to support primavera? "My motivation is to help children in need: I want to use the free time I have as a retiree in a meaningful way. I also want to pass on something of the good life I can have here to the poorest on this planet. What also motivates me is the very good collaboration within the board and the great dedication of every single person who actively supports Primavera. This isn’t self-evident in an association." What makes primavera unique for you? "At Primavera it is guaranteed that every single Euro is used for the projects. Everybody is working in an honorary capacity for Primavera. The projects are well chosen, are checked carefully and are always supervised and accompanied by Bosch associates. The intended purpose is also convincing: It’s fostering the children’s education and hygiene as well as their health. We hereby actively improve the living conditions of these children and teenagers. By the way, everybody can visit one of our projects (after prior consultation of the Primavera board) and is always welcome!" Was there a special primavera moment for you? "In the last 22 years there were a lot of special moments: the wonderful garden parties in the park of the Bosch house Heidehof, the great charity concerts by the Bosch symphony orchestra or the Bosch jazz orchestra. And of course our great birthday party for our 25th anniversary last year in the Theaterhaus in Stuttgart. During all these activities donations for our Primavera children were collected. My wish is that even more people get involved with Primavera by supporting the association financially or actively, so that even more projects can be supported."
