Income quintile share ratio

The development of income distribution measured by the "income quintile share ratio": Def.: the "income quintile share ratio" is calculated as the ratio of the total income received by the 20% of population with the highest income to that income received by the 20% of the population with the lowest. In other words: The annual income of the top 20% expressed in the number of yearls the lowest 20% of population has to work in order to archieve the same result.

Zum Vergleich eingeblendet die Entwicklung in Griechenland und in der Europäischen Union. Info: Der GINI-Koeffizient liegt bei null, wenn alle Einwohner eines Landes über ein gleich hohes Einkommen verfügen. Dagegen beträgt der GINI-Koeffizient 100, wenn nur einer alles hat. Entsprechend weist ein steigender GINI-Koeffizient auf eine Zunahme der Ungleichverteilung hin.
