Facebook Q&A session with HR Thank you to everyone who participated in our first Q&A session with HR. We received a lot of great questions and as promised, want to provide you answers! For anyone that missed the Q&A, as always, please feel free to send a message to our inbox and we would be happy to address! Which divisions have vacancies for the SGP at the moment? Based on the country you are looking to apply, the answer to this question varies. The best approach would be to go directly to the job board for each country and look at the individual job postings. In Germany, as we use one central posting, for fiscal year 2018 (October 2018-October 2019) we have already received demands from Building Technologies, Digital Factory, Energy Management, Process Industries and Drives, Mobility, Siemens Financial Services, Siemens Real Estate and Siemens Healthineers. What are the opportunities for a student from any growing college with not a reputed name to enter this program? One of the requirements for the program is that you have completed or are about to complete your Master’s studies (or equivalent) with above-average grades in a related discipline. Although some countries do recruit at certain partner Universities, all applicants regardless of their University, who meet the requirements of the program, are eligible to apply. Do you have fixed dates for the special assessment, e.g. once every month? Based on the country you are looking to apply, the answer to this question varies. The best approach would be to go directly to the job board for each country and look at the section “your application” this will give you specifics on when the Assessment centers may occur. In the US for example, we align with the semester schedule and generally hold ACs in the Oct/Nov and the March/April timeframe. In Germany, we usually have an assessment center 2-4 times per month. Will the Graduate program still be active within the wind industry, after the Siemens Wind Power and Gamesa merger? Siemens Wind Power has merged with the Spanish windturbine manufacturer Gamesa to Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) and as a standalone company will no longer participate in the Siemens Graduate Program. Currently SGRE does not yet offer a graduate program of its own.

Meet Joseph, one of our new SGPers! He will tell you a bit about his start in the Siemens Graduate Program :) Joseph: "Hi, I was born in a city called Schorndorf in Germany, while my family comes originally from Egypt. I received my B.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the American University in Cairo. After which, I finished my M.Sc. degree in Aerospace Engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. I did my master’s thesis with the R&D department at Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery AB, where I first knew about the SGP." Q: Why did you decide to join SGP? A: In general, graduate programs are the best way to start your career at your favorite company. I decided to join the SGP because of what it has to offer to develop personally and professionally; the challenging rotational structure, tailored training scheme and the intercultural experience within Siemens. Q: How would you describe your mindset on the way home after the assessment center? A: I knew that I have left a good impression, but the struggle was that it would be a hard decision for the committee, since all candidates were highly talented. Q: Who would you rather have as your interviewer: 1) Dr. House (House M.D.) 2) Dwight Schrute (The Office) 3) Sheldon Cooper (The Big Bang Theory) 4) Jack Bauer (24) 5) Your variant? A: Claire Underwood (House of Cards) Q: How did you prepare for your first rotation? A: I continued my research on the department I was going to join, regarding business updates and recent projects. Also, I tried to get in contact with other SGP alumni who are already working for Siemens in the UAE. Q: How did you like your first weeks in the SGP and what did you experience so far? A: My integration to the new team went quite smoothly, also I got to meet more of the SGP community nearby. After two months in the program, I can say my thoughts are assured that this is the right place for me and the right career start to be part of making real what matters.
