Product update Western Australia. Captain Cook Cruises (WA) which was taken over by Sealink late last year is to introduce a new ferry service to popular Rottnest Island, home of Australia’s famous quokkas, starting from November. The additional ferry service will link the island from Fremantle. Captain Cook Cruises will join Rottnest Express and Rottnest Fast Ferries in providing ferry services for visitors to the island. Great news. #JustAnotherDayInWesternAustralia. #RottnestIsland #quokkas

Just a reminder that from September to December the black marlin return to the waters around Lizard Island -- and for seven days each October the Lizard Island Black Marlin Classic attracts adventurous game fisherman from all over the world, all hoping to catch one of these magnificent creatures. Happily, all Lizard Island's marlin fishing, which is confined to specific areas, is “tag and release” to ensure the protection and scientific monitoring of these majestic ocean giants

Tourism Australia and Tourism WA (TCMG here in Europe) ran a competition with STA, where a Working Holiday Maker was able to win a trip for their parents to visit them in WA. However, the Working Holiday Maker didn’t know that she won the trip. She got told that she “only” won a consolation prize. The big surprise moment was filmed on Cable Beach when she discovered that she had won the trip and both of her parents, unbeknownst to her, arrived to have a holiday with her up to Cape Leveque and to the Horizontal Falls and then some time in a camper van in the Kimberley. It still brings a tear to our eyes .... but we are softies here at TCMG https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Gp7pgHJZ10

Western Australia update. Geikie Gorge National Park is the most easily accessible national park in Western Australia’s Kimberley region -- and the best way to experience this magnificent ancient gorge and learn about its stunning geology, local wildlife and its cultural significance is to join a boat tour. A new 88-passenger boat has just been launched on Geikie Gorge, skippered by highly-trained Parks and Wildlife Service rangers .#JustAnotherDayInWesternAustralia

Gone viral. And, no, it's not April 1.The best Qantas and Western Australia story of the day. A passenger successfully checked in a can of beer as his only luggage on a domestic flight from Melbourne to Perth. The can arrived, tagged and unopened, as the first item on the baggage carousel at Perth Airport after a four-hour journey from Melbourne. The passenger who checked in the can of Emu Export (a good Western Australia beer) said he did it as a joke. QF said: “This guy's done it, and he's won the internet for the day, so we're happy to move on," Nice bit of friendly PR, QF, and hats off to Perth airport carrousel team for safe delivery #OnlyInAustralia
