Another entry in the PASSION & POETRY series: For PASSION & POETRY - SENTA & SAM I edited the full half-hour interview I shot with Senta Berger. She talks about her time in Hollywood, MAJOR DUNDEE, THE GLORY GUYS and CROSS OF IRON. The film is included on the new 2016 Twilight Time Blu-ray for THE GLORY GUYS (screenplay: Sam Peckinpah) along with some other supplements I provided.

At the Berlin Film Festival 2004 I met up with Monte Hellman & Peter Fonda. I was a happy camper when Hellman liked my idea that he would do the narration for PASSION & POETRY. I love the sound of his voice. Here he is on the phone talking to me - I supervised the recording months later in LA while being on the phone here at home in Germany. Monte liked what I wrote quite a bit - which in return made me very happy, his judgement is important to me :) . (those satisfactions are permanent)

My second big CINEMA RETRO 10-page spread was published in #7, January 2007. Documenting the making of my 2nd favorite film, EASY RIDER, I also reconstructed Dennis Hopper's first cut, using his shooting script and stills from deleted scenes - of Hopper's first 15 minutes for instance less than 5 minutes made it into the final version! #7 soon became the first sold out CINEMA RETRO issue and is highly sought-after by now.

I joined the CINEMA RETRO family quite early, back in 2005. Issue #3 features my 18-page special on SAM PECKINPAH (Biography Sam / Film in focus The Getaway/ Major Dundee restored / Making PASSION & POETRY - THE BALLAD OF SAM PECKINPAH). Copies show up at eBay from time to time, but prices are going up...
