Dakar Rally 2017 Confirmation that the next edition of the #Dakar will be in South America The director of the company Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO), the French Étienne Lavigne confirmed today that the next edition of the Dakar will be held in South America and that competition does not plan to return to Africa in the short term. "We are not in a provision to leave the (American) continent at the moment. We have ideas and plans for the future with innovations to the philosophy of the Dakar," Lavigne said at a press conference. "We are in negotiations with several countries. First we will make an assessment with Argentina and Bolivia, which were the participants of this edition. And hold talks with Chile, Paraguay, Brazil, Uruguay, Ecuador and Colombia for future editions", he added as the highest authority of the organization. #Dakar2017 #WillYouRaceIt Source: Los Tiempos http://www.lostiempos.com/dakar/actualidad/actualidad/20160115/confirman-que-la-proxima-edicion-del-dakar-sera-en_329737_732695.html

Al-Attiyah: X-raid "had to" protest against Peterhansel

Nasser Al-Attiyah: X-raid Team "had to" protest against Stéphane Peterhansel Reigning Dakar champion Nasser Al-Attiyah reckons his X-raid team was left no option but to lodge a protest against Stephane Peterhansel's controversial refuelling in Monday's stage. Peterhansel, who has 11 Dakar wins to his name, is two days away from another victory, carrying a lead of about 52 minutes over Al-Attiyah, his nearest rival. Earlier this week, the Frenchman found himself targeted by an X-raid complaint, the rival squad questioning the legality of him refuelling in the non-timed zone. And while the stewards have cleared Peterhansel, X-raid subsequently vowed to appeal the decision, its boss Sven Quandt confident that the refuelling was not within the rules. While Al-Attiyah himself noted he wasn't going to get involved in the issue, the Qatari has confirmed he agrees with the team's decision to protest. "I do not want to worry about it," he told Motorsport.com. "The rules are the rules. "The team decided to make a protest, whether it works out or not doesn't depend on me. "We had to do it because they got an advantage, but that's not my job. My job is to manage the car and to secure the podium." #Dakar2016 #XRaid #Mini #Peugeot #ASO Motorsport.com EX-ROADmedia.ru - Там, где нет дорог Planet Robby 4x4action Note by Rallyewerk: The regulations of the ASO for the Dakar Rally clearly state that a refuelling or service in a neutralised part of a stage i not (!) permitted!!! We checked this ourselves after hearing of this incident and confirmed it with other major teams currently in the Dakar Rallye. We guess, being French and a French automaker makes puts you in a better position when it comes to rules that where written down for everyone :-(
