Charlotte is very proud of how well she cares for her daughter, Rebecca. Accepting a cancer diagnosis and then, that there would be no financial or emotional support from Rebecca’s father, has been very difficult. But she finds strength in her commitment to her child and in the confidence of the staff at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra. Doctors and nurses there explained that Rebecca could be cured, if the full treatment protocol was followed. It would mean two and a half years of treatment and paying out of pocket for medicines, as they are not covered by the national health system. Luckily, says her mother, Rebecca has a sponsor and her medicines are covered. Otherwise, Charlotte wouldn’t be able to afford the treatment. World Child Cancer is working with doctors and nurses in Ghana to improve cancer care for children. We are proud to partner with them in this effort. #makingaccesshappen 📸 by Christian Back
