"When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs, when images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence." - Ansel Adams. Sometimes walking in shadows, finding poetry and meaning even during an eclipse of the heart, Marcus' shots breathe inspiration into the life of the locations he visits, they reawaken the chronicles of time and place, find beauty and meaning and revive a mood that allows the memories of lost moments to live forever. What does it take to catch moments like these? It takes patience. It takes desire. It takes a love and a drive for what you do. But most importantly, it takes vision.
Marcus grew up in a small rural town in New Zealand, this is where he first met his passion for photography while working part time in a photography lab developing negatives and prints, he then went on to follow a career in the optical industry further developing his understanding of focal lengths, and an understanding of the behaviour of light, though working apart from the photography industry he always kept the passion for dramatic images inspired by time passing by.
Marcus is a fine art photographer specialising in cityscape, landscape and nature photography. Today, he is currently traveling always in search of those fleeting moments when light and land combine to create sheer magic and inspire the soul.
As a Photographer, he has been self-educated, having learned the talent through personal research and practical experience behind the camera and a natural artistic flair. In his work he incorporates his own personal techniques to expand the expressive magnitude of his art. Although an artist at heart, Marcus enjoys teaching and sharing with others his photography techniques and vision, he takes into his photography and life the quote by his inspiration and favourite artist Ansel Adams, "When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs, when images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence"

Te Mata Peak, Havelock North, New Zealand. Rising 399m above sea level, the peak is steeped in Maori legend. It is said that Maori chief Te Mata O Rongokako, ancestor of the Ngati Kahungunu iwi, fell in love with the daughter of his rival, the Heretaunga chief. To prove his worthiness and win the beautiful Maori maiden’s love, Rongokako accepted a series of near-impossible challenges. The handsome chief choked and died attempting his final task, which was to eat his way through this rocky range. Te Mata Peak depicts the outline of his body and is called the Sleeping Giant by locals. #lovethevillage #hawkesbay #Landscapes #PhotographyOnFacebook #Photography #WeAreAlive #LandscapesPhotography #Sony #SonyDSLR #hawkesbaytoday #followme #follow4follow #nofilter #FineArtPhotography #ShutYourAperture #500px 500px #WorldPhotographyDay #Visual_wanderlust #nakedplanet #NatureAddict #DoYouTravel #TheGlobeWanderer #EarthPix #DiscoverEarth #travelawesome #fantastic_earth #wildernessculture #wonderful_places #welcometonature #hot_shotz Love Havelock North 100% Pure New Zealand Department of Conservation New Zealand Tourism D-Photo Magazine Wilderness Magazine Outdoor Photographer Magazine Havelock North, New Zealand Digital Photographer magazine Digital Photo Pro Magazine

The University of Heidelberg has a long tradition as a center of learning, but students at the 500-year-old uni have often taken the view that "All work and no play makes Hans a dull boy." As long ago as the 16th Century, citizen complaints about carousing students led the university to open a Studentenkarzer, or Student Prison, where academic miscreants were kept off the streets for three days to four weeks at a time. Being jailed in the Studentenkarzer couldn't have been too unpleasant, because time behind bars was a rite of passage for many students. The Heidelberg Tourist Office describes "the much-coveted stay in the 'Student Prison' for Town vs. Gown offenses, such as disturbing the peace, womanising, unruly drunkenness, and setting the townspeople's ubiquitous pigs free." The prison is about the size of a large apartment, with a door that once allowed student prisoners to enter the Old University for classes during their confinement. #studentenkarzer #studentprison #prison #heidelberg #germany #disturbingthepeace #unruly #confinement #olduniversity #lockedup #nokey #staircase #tagging Heidelberg, Germany Heidelberg 4 you Universität Heidelberg Heidelberg Altstadt Photography Fine Art Photography 500px Share.me #shareme World Press Photo The Big Picture UNESCO D-Photo Magazine Digital Photo Magazine Better Photography magazine Digital SLR Photography Magazine PDN Practical Photography magazine

Heidelberg Castle (German: Schloss Heidelberg) is a famous ruin in Germany and landmark of Heidelberg. The castle ruins are among the most important Renaissance structures north of the Alps. The castle has only been partially rebuilt since its demolition in the 17th and 18th centuries. It is located 80 metres (260 ft) up the northern part of the Königstuhl hillside, and thereby dominates the view of the old downtown. It is served by an intermediate station on the Heidelberger Bergbahn funicular railway that runs from Heidelberg's Kornmarkt to the summit of the Königstuhl. The earliest castle structure was built before 1214 and later expanded into two castles circa 1294; however, in 1537, a lightning-bolt destroyed the upper castle. The present structures had been expanded by 1650, before damage by later wars and fires. In 1764, another lightning-bolt caused a fire which destroyed some rebuilt sections. #500px #500pxiso #fineartphotography Fine Art Photography Shutyouraperture Photography on Facebook #Photography #worshiper #prayer #cathedral #neverstopexploring #sonydslr #nofilter Sony Alpha DSLR #pictureoftheday #picoftheday Photography Top Photographers In The World #shareme Heidelberg 4 you Heidelberg Tourism and Info Goethe-Institut New Zealand #NZPhotographer Germany Heidelberg, Germany #Landmark #Renaissance #castle #king
In the Heidelberg Altstadt, Germany, off the centre of #Marktplatz stands the Church of the Holy Spirit, Heidelberg. It is first mentioned in a manuscript from 1239AD. In 1398, the #foundations of the current late #Gothic #church were laid on the site of a late #Romanesque #basilica which, in turn, had been erected in the place of an even older church. Thus the current church is the third #sacral #building on the site. The construction lasted for some one hundred and fifty years. In 1709, after the church had been set on #fire by the #French during the War of the Palatinian Succession, it was rebuilt and received a #baroque spire. It is also said that the church has been used by both Catholic and Protestant Religions both at the same time. #500px #500pxiso #fineartphotography Fine Art Photography Shutyouraperture Photography on Facebook #Photography #worshiper #prayer #cathedral #neverstopexploring #sonydslr #nofilter Sony Alpha DSLR #pictureoftheday #picoftheday Photography Top Photographers In The World #shareme Heidelberg 4 you Heidelberg Tourism and Info Goethe-Institut New Zealand #NZPhotographer
