* Batch 2017 * We are very happy and would like to welcome our 29 new students from the batch 2017 who joined the BCM programme. This year BCM is represented by 12 nations from Brazil to Vietnam who bring a very nice and intercultural atmosphere to Furtwangen and our HFU University. Brazil: 2 Canada: 1 Chile: 1 China: 2 Colombia: 1 Germany: 1 India: 12 Indonesia: 2 Mexico: 1 Pakistan: 1 Peru: 1 Vietnam: 4 We wish all students a great start into the snowy summer semester and an unforgettable time in Germany.
It was yet again that time of the year where all the international students came together, despite a dull and cold Furtwangen weather. The weather did all it could, but wasn't able to dampen the spirits of the festival. "International Festival" was held in great pomp and show with food stalls being setup as done every Summer with different countries showcasing their culinary skills. Multi-cultural BCM students teamed up and prepared many tasty dishes. There were a lot of visitors to the stalls who tasted and enjoyed the different cuisines all in one place!! That was not it. There were also cultural activities with song and dance organized and all of us had an awesome time enjoying some peppy tunes and superb performances!
HochschuleKontaktBörse - A job fair was held at HFU where we saw many companies starting from the ones in Furtwangen like SSS SIEDLE, companies like SICK AG, Endress + Hauser, Pentasys, ACTICO to other international companies such as SAP AG, Ernst & Young and BOSCH GmBH visit HFU. They were here to exhibit their organization and what they do and also provide much needed guidance and information for students seeking full-time/ part-time jobs, internships and Thesis opportunities. It was an informative and interesting opportunity for all the students to get to know the companies in and around Germany and plan for their future. BCM students attended the fair and got a feel of the possible opportunities with the companies, the process for application and other relevant information.
Guten Tag! Hallo Leute! Mentorship is one of the few unconventional modes of learning where one gets a pragmatic insight into the real world of business through a mentor who has good experience in the field and is interested in imparting the knowledge to others. Every year BCM offers a Mentoring Programme wherein former BCM students, who are currently well placed in companies in and around Germany mentor the current BCM students where they share their own experiences in terms of studying, living and especially working in Germany. They do take some time out of their busy schedules and address concerns and clarifications of the mentees which helps the mentees to align themselves to the needs of the future. Here are our BCM mentors and mentees for this year!
Deloitte Consulting had invited some of our BCM students to a special event to discuss the opportunities which Deloitte can provide for them. The event which was held at Gasthaus zum Bad started off with Deloitte welcoming all participants including our BCM students and providing an introduction into SAP and how Deloitte is involved in SAP consulting. They happily answered all the queries from the participants ranging from a typical work life of a consultant to thesis and internship opportunities with them. The event concluded with a sumptuous dinner and some 1:1 face time between the participants and Deloitte consultants. It was a fun night with lots of useful information!

Industry 4.0 - This is something new that Prof. Dr. Siestrup mentioned about during his class on Supply Chain Management Yet another catchy phrase or does it promise much more? Read through the article below from McKinsey which introduces us to this new paradigm shift in manufacturing and supply chain as we know it. http://www.mckinsey.com/business-functions/operations/our-insights/manufacturings-next-act
And one more group photo of BCM 2016 with scenic town of Furtwangen in the background :)
"Zukunftstag" – “Day of the Future” was an interesting event organized by SSS SIEDLE in Furtwangen last Friday. This is a traditional family firm that produces everything connected with communication in and around the house at Furtwangen for more than 200 years now. SSS SIEDLE arranged an exhibition of their futuristic products for all the interested people and their team were very friendly and welcoming. There seemed to be a lot of exciting innovations related to satellite imaging, temperature sensors and an intelligent Rubik Cube solver apart from their home communication products. Our student coordinator Sabina visited with us their facility and introduced us to Pascale Moser, responsible person of the Human Resources Department. We had a good conversation with her where she explained about the possibilities of internships/thesis at their organization. Few of us lucky ones got a souvenir as a remembrance.
Greetings from BCM 2016 This time around, as always, we have a truly multicultural batch of new students in HFU for Business Consulting Masters programme. We have a mixture of 11 different nationalities from as far as Columbia in the west to Singapore in the east. Today was a really sunny day after a “snowy summer” ;) for the last couple of weeks and we took this opportunity to snap this picture with our Dean of BCM programme Prof. Dr. Thomas Marx and our Student Coordinator Sabina. We were overwhelmed with his extensive knowledge in SAP and the Business Consulting field in general and the way he gradually introduced us into SAP irrespective of our prior experience. On the other hand, last couple of weeks, we had so many fun activities planned for us by HFU as well as some necessary formalities. Even the snow couldn’t stop us from having a blast and exploring different cities in Baden-Württemberg. With a lot of interesting lectures along with fun activities lined up, looking forward to an interesting time here in the Black Forest!
