BASI stands for Body Arts and Science International, which is both the name of the academy’s holding company and an affirmation of its approach to Pilates studies. Since its inception in 1989, the mission of BASI Pilates was to create and maintain professional standards for the teaching of the method and to preserve and perpetuate the gift of Pilates by educating teachers of the highest caliber. We honour the purity of the method and maintain the legacy that was handed down by Joseph Pilates and are committed to providing our students with a solid foundation in the Pilates method. This basic grounding is imperative if we are to do justice to the method, to the client and to you, the instructor. If you are willing to travel the often rigorous, demanding and ultimately rewarding path – in other words, to go the distance – BASI® will provide the knowledge.
